Like @broskoski says himself:
"Our ideal outcome as a company is not becoming the next Facebook (god forbid), it’s becoming the next Nishiyama Onsen Keiunkan, a hot spring hotel in Japan, and one of the world’s oldest businesses (founded in 705 AD)."
Local-first fits better in that ethos.

Who created the Midwit meme? Here is a timeline:
Origin (2012): The word "mid-witted" was popularized by the right-wing author and blogger Vox Day in his 2012 article "The Tragedy of the Mid-Witted," which eventually trickled into 4chan culture.
The First Bell Curve Meme (Jan teration of the meme appeared on 4chan. It mapped political affiliations to an IQ distribution curve but did not yet feature the recognizable characters.
The Wojak Visual Format (Dec 2018): Anonymous 4chan users combined the bell curve with the popular Wojak meme characters. They placed a crying "Soyjak" character in the middle (representing the midwit overcomplicating things) and contrasting characters on the extreme ends.

Beautiful photography from this @nothing campaign
Community note
These images are AI-generated marketing material, not real photography. Nothing's campaigns have faced backlash for presenting AI-generated people as authentic photos, with visible anomalies like off-center logos and misaligned hardware details. 9to5google.com/2026/08/05/not… notebookcheck.net/CMF-showcases-…
