This isn't a FULL pension, stop it with this disinformation

If a MLA serves at least 6 years, they are eligible for the pension. But after only 6 years, they'd get 3.5% x 6 years= 21% of their salary when they turn 65

I hate this nonsense. This headline should get community noted. People will believe MLAs will get like 100k for the rest of their lives. This isn't the case.

The pension plan for MLAs is good but not amazing. They pay 11% and they get 3.5% for every year. As comparison, other public servants usually pay 9-10% (I pay 10.15% for instance) and get usually 1.8-2% a year. So it is in fact a more generous plan but they also get nothing if they don't do 6 years
British Columbia’s snap election was scheduled a day after a number of NDP MLAs qualified for a full pension.

Pierre Poilievre has started saying "debt is out of control".

Governments do need to be careful about the debt they bring on.

But here's some important context as Canada diversifies trade, builds big and supports affordability.

Wow. Pro pipeline to the NW (never going to happen, would threaten billions in actual investment (mining, LNG) that has First Nations support, and NO private proponent) folks are losing their minds.

Mark Carney (very popular) says ‘no’. Pollievre (not) gives bad advice. #bcpoli

Let me be clear: BC did not veer sharply right in this election. Doerkson carefully campaigned as a moderate, which was crucial to his success. Even so, the BC Conservatives still lost votes in absolute terms compared with 2024!

NDPers stayed home in droves—that's the story.

Has nothing to do with a new government

The Cowichan case has nothing to do with DRIPA, and it was suspended for negotiations last summer

The proposal was expected to settle this by Feb 2027

All well known info for over a year. No conspiracy
Well that didn't take long. A new government gets elected and the Cowichan lawyer suddenly has a new proposal coming in January that will protect private property rights in the Richmond case. biv.com/news/cowichan-…

Hate has no place in BC. Calling on ALL elected MLAs to speak out. PLEASE!!!!
The morning after B.C.'s election, a dozen masked men stood on the steps of the legislature displaying a white nationalist slogan.

BC's snap election explained:
The NDP started with 47 seats, one MLA had to be speaker & break ties. The opposition: 44 Conservatives, two Greens. No way this would last two more years. Only the chaos on the Conservative side kept it alive. @geoffmeggs gets it.

Updated. Turnout still below 50%. @Conservative_BC down about 49,000 over 2024, @NDP support plunged 274,000 and @BCGreens are up close to 24,000. Still approx 75,000 mail-in ballots, etc to be counted so that will inch up a bit.
The @Conservative_BC actually received 50,000 fewer votes than in 2024 (but won 20 more seats) because the @bcndp vote dropped by 275.000 (29%) while the @BCGreens got 23,000 more votes than last time (+13%) - still some ballots to be counted.
