Yesterday I told the gas station cashier to put $40 on pump 5, tapped my card without looking, pumped my gas, and drove off.

Two minutes later my phone pinged with a $400 charge.

I pulled over sick to my stomach and drove straight back. The girl working the register saw me coming and ran out apologizing before I even opened my door. She was literally shaking and admitted she accidentally typed an extra zero.

I looked at her and said, "$400 for gas? What did you think I was filling up, a tank?"

She tried to void it on the register, and her face went completely pale.

Amazon's internal Customer Service Central dashboard secretly tracks how you answer their return menu.

Pick the wrong reason from that dropdown list, and the system quietly hits your Prime account with a $6.99 penalty just to drop a box off at UPS.

Pick the right option, and the exact same system waives the fee or tells you to keep the item for free and refunds your card anyway๐Ÿ‘‡

That little dropdown menu asking why you're returning something isn't a customer survey. It is a filter to decide who pays for the shipping label.

When you click something honest and casual like "No longer needed" or "Bought by mistake," Amazon marks the return as buyer-fault. If there is a Whole Foods or Kohl's anywhere near your zip code, they slap you with a $6.99 fee at the UPS Store just to force you to drive across town and consolidate their boxes for free.

You bypass the fee with 1 click.

Select "Performance or quality not adequate" or "Inaccurate website description" instead.

Those 2 specific answers shift the return shipping cost back onto the house. The $6.99 UPS fee vanishes on the next screen. And if the item costs under $25, the algorithm often calculates that paying UPS for return shipping costs more than the product is worth, so it triggers an instant refund and tells you to just keep the box.

Amazon sellers in the replies are going to call this return fraud because that shipping label gets billed straight out of their own pocket, while regular buyers argue a $2 trillion company shouldn't be sneaking $7 return fees onto Prime accounts in the first place.

Have you been hit with that $6.99 UPS drop-off fee yet, or are you still getting free returns?

This is often used in cyber attacks to steal OTPs, redirect calls, or during SIM swaps.

Most people donโ€™t know these codes exist.

๐Ÿšจ Deleted doesn't always mean gone.

I ran a backup of my iPhone and went through it with Claude Code.
Some of the photos I'd deleted were still there.

- Old screenshots, including banking apps
- Photos I deleted right after taking them
- Pictures I'd cleared from Recently Deleted

Deleting on your phone doesn't always remove every copy.
Old backups and cached thumbnails can keep them around.

Check your backups before you assume a photo is gone.
And review which apps can access your library.

How many apps on your phone can see your photos right now?

Never accept a counteroffer from your current employer.

When you try to quit and HR suddenly finds $20,000 to make you stay, it is not because they value you. It is a calculated trap.

Here is what happens the exact second you accept it:

Hereโ€™s a pretty affordable way Iโ€™d get a video started: Dreaminaโ€™s first month is only $0.29, and CapCutโ€™s Black Friday sale is already live with 60% off Pro and 40% off Ultra.
Iโ€™d generate a few options in Dreamina, choose the ones that fit, and bring them into CapCut PC. Adding me work out the pacing, then Iโ€™d trim the shots and balance the background music.
Dreamina and CapCut Pro usually cost $15/month each. They have separate subscriptions, so youโ€™ll need the individual links below for the two offers.
The CapCut sale is desktop only, Oct 20โ€“30. Both deals end October 30โ€”worth getting started before then.
