A rigged system. Banks exploit mortgage contract loopholes to add unlimited legal fees onto your mortgage account, weaponising your own equity to pay for their lawyers. Meanwhile, you're left with zero cash to hire a lawyer to defend yourself. It's structural warfare.
They've got the money. They've got the lawyers.
And they're counting on you giving up. Don't give them the satisfaction.

Alone in Court.

📖 Out now. Order today.

Exactly. Look at how large banks operate: they can add unlimited legal fees straight to your mortgage balance, using your own equity to fund their lawyers. Meanwhile, the defendant is left with zero liquidity to hire legal defense. They make you pay for your own destruction.
Being a litigant in person buys you no slack.
⠀
The Supreme Court made that clear in Barton v Wright Hassall: the court rules apply to you in full, whether you have a legal team or not.
Most people only discover that after it has cost them.
⠀
Alone in Court is out now.

Two years after our "Bohemian Trumpsody" #Queen parody (on Trump's presidential election, with footage from the Capitol attack - see below), here's our take on Freddie Mercury's high-energy belter, twisted to the forthcoming #Midterms, which we're calling:
👉"Go, Stop Him Now!"
Here's our last parody song about the #USElection2024. It's called "Bohemian Trumpsody" (based on the inimitable @QueenWillRock but with only six voices & no overdubs) & we've self-trolled in it as 'libtards' already, just to save folks time who might be offended 🎶🗳️🤞

TOMORROW I GO TO UK PARLIAMENT

Tomorrow, 2 November, I will walk into the whistleblower summit of the @appgonifandffs on Investment Fraud and Fairer Financial Services.

I have 60 seconds to speak. The event asks why we must protect the wellbeing of whistleblowers. It is of Simon Andriesz @SAndriesz.

I wrote an eight-minute speech and practised it. Then came the message. So many people wanted to speak that we needed to share the time. My slot is now one minute.

Cutting eight minutes to 60 seconds was hard. But I understand. Every person in that room has a story that deserves to be heard.

For my minute, I chose Simon, who spent 35 years working in financial markets.

My own fight with @rsagroup Insurance, @IntactInsurance UK and the Financial Ombudsman Service @financialombuds gets its turn next time. On 2 November, it is about Simon and the disgraceful way @theFCA treated him.

In August, his friend John Robertson @J_Robertson_UK put us in touch. Simon contacted me and we spoke. I wrote about his case and published it on 12 August. It got some attention.

On 23 September, Simon took his own life.

Two days later, I posted about his death on X. That post received more than 700k views. On 4 October, Congressman @RepThomasMassie quoted it, bringing another 800k views. Newspapers picked up the story. It reached people around the world.

Then came the Financial Conduct Authority’s promise of a review. MPs called for an independent investigation. The first question at the FCA Annual Public Meeting was about Simon.

Simon had spent years trying to get the regulator, the courts and the press to listen. After his death, his story reached a worldwide audience. Then came the responses he had needed while he was alive.

That is a disgrace.

Tomorrow, we will talk about protecting whistleblowers’ wellbeing. That starts with how we respond when someone asks us to listen.

My inbox is full of messages from whistleblowers and people who have suffered wrongdoing. Behind each message is a person waiting for someone to take them seriously. A reply takes 2 minutes. For someone who has spent years being ignored, it can mean a lot.

If a whistleblower writes to you, answer them. Make time for the conversation while they are here to have it.

Tomorrow, I have 60 seconds. I will use them to ask people to remember Simon Andriesz, and to listen to those still asking for help.

If this moves you, share his name.

TOMORROW, FOR SIMON

The APPG Whistleblower Summit is tomorrow in Parliament, dedicated to Simon Andriesz @SAndriesz.

Stand with whistleblowers.
📢 FINAL REMINDER! Whistleblower Summit | UK Parliament | Monday 2nd November, 2pm–5pm

The APPG on Investment Fraud and Fairer Financial Services invites you register your interest for a complimentary place at a special event in Parliament on the vital role whistleblowers play in society, and the need to protect them from retaliation.

The summit is dedicated to the memory of whistleblower Simon Andriesz, who took his own life after reporting retaliation by his former employer. His case featured on BBC File on 4 Investigates.

Simon had pleaded with the FCA for help, explaining that he and his family “were in crisis.”

His death has led whistleblowers around the world to unite in condemning the regulator. As far as we know, this is the first time whistleblowers worldwide have spoken out together on behalf of a fellow whistleblower.

Baroness Kramer has also spoken about Simon’s death in the Lords, and the case has received widespread media coverage.

🤝 Show your support for whistleblowers by attending.

Nicholas @nw_nicholas, 15 years taking on HSBC is more than most would ever give. Nobody can blame you for stepping back.

@SAndriesz's death must not end as another "lessons learned" review.

You kept asking the hard questions. Others will carry them on now.

You are the hero for me and many others and i want to thank you for everything you have done.
The reason I'm taking a back seat on the whistleblowing scene is this - A few people have asked me to attend parliamentary APPG meetings etc, following the tragic suicide of Simon Andriesz, and campaign against the FCA.
In my 15 year campaign against massive HSBC consumer fraud I witnessed corruption at EVERY level of UK authority. COLP, CoE, FCA, FSA, SRA, OFT, FOS, SFO, MPs & Lords and media. Very few people were untainted.
Arguably, the SRA are even more blatantly corrupt than the FCA. I think the UK has been like this for centuries, and always will be. I'm tired of banging my head against a brick wall and prefer to expend what little energy I have left in trying to prevent the OCG that is Reform from getting anywhere near power.

When @sra_solicitors wrote to me it was a good and pasted response they hadn’t even bothered to change the solicitors name. That is how egregious they are.
10,382 complaints about solicitors. Closed. No investigation.

That's 72% of everything the SRA handled last year.

We threatened judicial review. The regulator backed down and admitted its failings in writing.

Today we published the case for Parliament to replace it.

Not Fit .

Less than one week till "Alone in Court" is out!
They want you to believe you can't win.
That fighting back is too expensive. Too complicated. Too difficult.
And that eventually, you'll just walk away.
Don't give them the satisfaction.
📖 Alone in Court. The law belongs to you too.

Our founder on some of the backstory of Alone in Court.

Every week people come to us facing court with no lawyer. This book is written for them.

Published on Tuesday, with a foreword by the Rt Hon Lord Smith of Finsbury, Chancellor of the University of Cambridge.

I have made two complaints to them. One was investigated but they chose no action despite the evidence. The recent complaint against the same law firm was closed down within a few days of receiving my indisputable evidence. Can provide evidence
The @sra_solicitors folded the moment we took it towards the High Court. Now it appears to be trying to bury the bigger scandal by pretending this was only ever about one complaint.

It was not.

This is a regulator trying to ring-fence its own failure so it never has to answer for it. It is a disgraceful way to dodge accountability, and we will not let it happen.

Its chief executive has not had the courtesy to personally respond to any of my 13 letters, or the courage to meet me face to face.

Every day we collect more evidence. Every day more people from within the profession come to us.

Thousands of people have had complaints closed without further action, with no formal right to challenge the decision. Reopening our file does nothing for a single one of them. No one should have to threaten the High Court to force the SRA to do its job.

We are not going away.

I knew the law, the rules, and how the other side played.

Representing myself in court still nearly broke me.

Imagine facing it without knowing any of those things.

That's why I wrote Alone in Court.

This is the story behind the book.

Why did the SRA withdraw its decisions when Blind Justice challenged them?
Because we were prepared to take the matter to the High Court.

The SRA admitted three failings in writing and withdrew two decisions.
That isn’t special treatment. That’s accountability.
And we took that of people out there who can’t.

The scandal is that ordinary people shouldn’t have to threaten judicial review to get a regulator to reconsider.
That’s why we’re demanding a formal public right to challenge SRA closure decisions.

This isn’t about one case. It’s about changing the system for everyone.
