What’s so interesting about this is that SpaceX is getting to eat their cake and have it too - they get the benefits of being a lab, vertical integration into inference, and being a Cursor style router.
They have a SOTA model so labs can’t bully them, they can capture margin on 3P models through inference, and somehow (Elon!) they have access to Suno and MJ as well. They can offer the overall best, the pareto best or the best for a tail modality and the house always wins.
Amazing on so many levels.

@illscience They don’t have a sota model I thought that’s the message

@illscience They also rented their computer to serve Claude models lol. So even here they have a margin. It's literally insane

@illscience I don't know about the SOTA part, yet.
Something about all this reminds me of the highlander movies. 🍿

@illscience Hard to see a losing move from that position. They win on the router even if the model race flips.

@illscience What’s interesting is AGI might be reached first by a harness similar to Grok bot using a mix of the best models, before a singular model gets there

@illscience Elon will always end up holding the cards in just about everything

@illscience Owning a model and still routing to others is a strong spot.

@illscience Occams razor: they aren't making money off their SOTA so they are hoping to resell products people are actually using, as long as it's not OpenAi, to try to mitigate some of their massive negative ROI on all this capex.

@illscience they stole their model.
you don't think he'll steal whatever you are working on / funding?

@illscience It’s the Microsoft model. Microsoft is lacking a true frontier model becuser they avoided building large models for so long (OAI partnership) but they aspire to have one ready for 2027

@illscience of the models is very important: Claude Opus 5.5 (who knew this might have been part of the data center lease), no ChatGPT mentioned, no other general frontier lab model, MidJourney (images), Suno (music) and other leading APIs.
So yes, this was a smart move and positions Grok Bot as a potentially great router, but it isn't "access to every model." What is impressive is that it does include Opus 5.5, and that's thanks to Elon's dealmaking.
Availability of competing models is a strong gambit to try to increase the utility and popularity of Grok Bot.

@illscience They also benefit when others buy compute from them!

@illscience It’ll be the best agent. That said, you can already go pretty far with DeepSeek V4.1 Flash and GLM-5.3 Flash on Together. ai (US-hosted).

@illscience The real margin squeeze comes when users favor the third-party models over the native ones. You end up absorbing outbound API costs unless the tier pricing aggressively hedges that traffic.

We just raised $5.7M for @polarbrowser, the AI browser that beats Anthropic and OpenAI on every major web agent benchmark.
- 4,500,000+ actions taken for users, automating sales, recruiting, and ops
- One company cancelled Clay and saves 25+ hrs/wk per person
- Team is from MIT, Street, Perplexity, Modal, and Apple
100 hours of work. From 30 seconds of typing.

@illscience Money runs both ways. Per Reuters, Anthropic's draft IPO filing commits up to $84.5B to xAI/SpaceX compute, while Grok will route requests to Claude. But Anthropic can mostly walk away with 90 days' notice. The house wins only while this customer stays.

@illscience And these models run on THEIR COMPUTE. So their own usage increases their own income LOL

@illscience Jim Cramer is long $SPCX on account of lucrative compute rentals and now the thesis gets even more compelling!

“Inverse Cramer” is a meme. But @jimcramer’s tracked calls tell a more interesting story
Buzzberg’s Oct 5 data: his evaluated calls averaged +0.7% at 30 days across 732 calls, and +8.5% at 180 days across 380 calls
One long-term conviction?
$SPCX
On Sept 28, Cramer laid out NBC: Starlink plus renting compute to Google and Anthropic. Buzzberg recorded the call near $146
He reiterated it on Oct 5. The stock closed at $171.09 that day, about 17% above that recorded price
The claim to watch: Cramer expects more than $3B a month from renting compute starting in December 2026
Can SpaceX deliver on that forecast?
Before you inverse Cramer, check the calls behind the meme. His record is in the reply ⬇️

@illscience And, you will love this. Elon will soon have access to CPNI for agentic purposes.
