🚨 BIGGEST SINGLE-DAY WIPEOUT IN US STOCK MARKET HISTORY

$2.8 Trillion has been wiped out from the US stock market today so far, the largest one in history.

Previously, the largest single-day wipeout was of $2.69 Trillion during the Covid crash.
Community note
Black Monday (Oct 19, 1987) was the largest one-day percentage drop in S&P 500 history at –20.5%, wiping out roughly $500 billion (about 20% of the then ~$2–3 trillion total U.S. market).
For context, the S&P 500 was down roughly 3–4% in trading on Nov 5, 2026.

This was Anthony Albanese in 2022 when the Reserve Bank of Australia lifted rates to 0.35 bps.

How well has this aged with the cash rate at 4.85 bps?

Even @X calls BS.
Today's decision by the RBA was widely expected, but that doesn't make it any easier for families and businesses.

It's difficult news for many Australians who are already paying a hefty price for circumstances outside their control.

We take responsibility for our part of the fight against inflation, which is why we're finding savings at the same time as we roll out relief.

Monday morning dose of reality:

The Federal Government can't 'ease the cost of living' for everyone without stoking further inflationary pressures.

It's just not mathematically possible.

And yet, we have the ongoing pantomime.

Before anyone says - it's 100% government fault. @JEChalmers and @AlboMP can't run an economy. Can't run a country. Neither the middle east conflict nor the other global events have anything to do with massive government spending. We need a change in policy. Change in government.
RBA has hiked rates to 4.85%
