An hour’s flight east of Bali lies an Indonesian island where horses run free along the 2.5km-long white-sand beaches and then swim in the sea.

Danxia, the core of the Zhangye National Geopark, is known for the unusual colours of the rocks, which are smooth, sharp and several hundred meters tall.
They are the result of deposits of sandstone and other minerals that occurred over 24 million years.

NASA’s Voyager 1, the most distant human-made object, briefly went quiet this month before reconnecting on its own.
On Oct. 18 and 19, the giant dish antennas of NASA’s Deep Space Network failed to pick up the probe’s radio signal during two scheduled check-ins. The signal fore engineers had sent any commands.
Early clues show that one set of thrusters shut down and backups took over automatically. This built-in safety response, called fault protection, puts the spacecraft in a stable state while engineers figure out what went wrong. The exact cause is still under investigation.
In September, engineers replaced three heating devices with lower-power versions all at once, a move nicknamed the “Big Bang.” Voyager runs on heat from decaying plutonium and loses about 4 watts of power each year. Without the swap, another science instrument might have been shut off by summer 2027.

It's always difficult to answer what is the best focal length for a portrait.
But this popular gif by Dan Vojtech offers a smart preview of how different focal lengths can change the look of a face.

The elephant’s penis is not only massive but prehensile and actually full multi-use.
They use it to prop themselves up, swat flies from their side and even scratch themselves on their stomach.

For Halloween, two neighbors put up flame decorations on their houses to make it look like they were on fire.
Twenty minutes later, firefighters showed up all over the area, thinking the houses were actually on fire.
