You'd think with that forest debacle in Finland, the country would tell Google to go fuck themselves and get out, stay out, and enjoy the no new data center. If they really cared about the trees anyway. And if they did not, then why the fuss?

Good thing Shopify moved from York, the Google Maps makes it look like a building in Gaza or Ukraine with all the demolished neighboring buildings! The noise of jack hammering could be a bit distracting to IT workers.

It is so obvious we could just stop most tech right now, live with the AI we have, the computers, everything, and convert all those smart people to getting down to solving the actual hard problems we have in terms of the whole planet. The web bullshit era should now be over.

New Jersey? Hellebuyck played all those mental games to settle in, Jersey? A team that will only be playoff bound again past 2034 perhaps? Captained by marshmallow twit and bubblewrap aficianado Hughes, the one who stabs himself out of the line up with a plastic spoon Jersey?

A marker for how the world is doing is almost certainly the Shopify BFCM sales tally. The year it does not exceed the levels of the historical past, is probably the year to take careful note of where the bugout bag is, and prepare for a journey to the quieter places out there 🤪

When the airlines gonna start offering BOGO for exotic locales? My local concert provider is doing it. 7/8 of Shopify merchants do it for BFCM at the least. It is time for flying to BOGO!

Funny how in Canada people get their shorts in a knot about things like the brain drain, or unfair politics, or building this or that, when we at the same time legalized phone gambling for all, and it is now very evident that that alone has completely trashed thousands of lives.

So with 70% of the Internet running off of seriously old and unpatched PHP, will all that be nuked in favour of a new, sane, secure way of rendering simple HTML and submitting form data? I wonder. I kinda doubt, but it would be nice!

Wild how the top 10%, with the stocks, houses, kids, cottages, planes, trains, and automobiles, will pay a mere $100K to sit in a tin can and capitulate all their humanity by exposing their brittle bones, gristle and fat to a software program exercise labelled FSD and trust that.

I need a red microwave oven to replace my now busted black one. Not black, not white, not stainless steel. Red.

We live in an age of the infinite shit and yet a red coloured microwave oven to match my motif is not on the menu 😜

With all the churn, say I wanted to spin up a dev shop, assign it a state of the art Shopify theme, then go to work customizing said them from a standard HTML layout and CSS POV? I know Dawn retired. Horizon was a new thing? Then there is headless, canvas, etc. What's the easy?

Seems to be nothing short of a miracle that the < 30 crowd has not risen up to burn the place to the ground. Flickers of it happening sure, and where there is smoke, there is fire! But the restraint being shown is truly remarkable. Thankfully. Fingers crossed it stays peaceful.

With almost every right-wing political movement having demonstrably changed nothing for the better, and in many cases having made chaos and a vast mess of things, it now remains to be seen if the meagre civic voting population of Toronto goes for one last kick at that can too.

Loading up on Shopify App developers amplifying the recent hack attack on Shopify Apps resulting in the thieves making off with credit card numbers.

On the one hand, it's a sign App devs care about the ecosystem, but on the other hand, yeeks, when your crowd amplifies the bad!

TIL for the 1000x. There exist plenty of people IRL, that absolutely don't understand how to shop at a Costco. The monthly magazine they publish could dedicate at least 3 pages of editorial to teaching the basics of how to shop! Start with manouvering a cart! ⭐️⭐️⭐️

DeepSeek open sourced its internal inference framework, Apache 2.0, no strings attached.

This is arguably more impactful than open sourcing any model weights, like @zephyr_z9 said, they've open sourced their economics, how DeepSeek makes a profit

DeepSeek's commitment to open source is as steadfast as Anthropic's commitment to closed source. Every other lab sits in the mushy middle, dictated by the market condition, investor expectation, policy wind

These two labs are basically building two different religions, one radically open and messy, the other intensely closed and polished.

If you are on Team Bazaar, you root for DeepSeek. If you are on Team Cathedral, you root for Anthropic. In the end, both will exist and flourish, pushing and pulling each other into a steady state. I think that is ultimately a healthy thing.

I love visiting cathedrals, admiring their awe-inspiring grandeur, meditating under the instant hush and silence the structures command. I also like walking through bazaars, feeling the chaos, smelling the messy dynamism, brushing up against unpredictable creativity.

Both should exist. No reason to try to kill or demonize one or the other.
🚀 Introducing DeepInfer, our in-house inference framework, now fully open source!

Powering DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash at scale with high throughput and low latency. We’re sharing our production stack to help the community lower compute costs, reduce energy use, and make AI more affordable.

Kinda shocking when to go from a hockey team and dressing room where it's all good, arts, entrepreneurs and fun, to an older, more conservative one where there are complaints about things and even a few rating Trump as doing some things right! The paroxysms running me in! Gah!

I guess I am jaded about this most recent hack upon the Shopify because I remember when some Apps had no security, and thus anyone could use them to re-arrange the products sold, like exchanging golf clubs for gay porn! Not that I ever did that. I am too professional for that.
