Think Iraola deserves far more credit than the general consensus seems to be right now, he’s lost ONE match at Liverpool, to City. They’re 3 wins from 3 in the UCL, on 15 points after 8 games (71-ish point pace), utilising Nyoni, Koumas, Rio, McConnell. They were one of the teams whose transfer business was most worrying, Araujo’s done well but RB, LB, central midfield, he’s managed those issues near-perfectly. Still so much to be improved on even from a coaching POV but in a transition season with a sub optimal “rebuild” in the summer, you couldn’t have asked for much more.

People talk about managers and they should be given time but I always say, you have to earn your time. Iraola is doing that, even if games aren’t pretty, he’s proving he has the ability to coach 3 games a week, rotate, balance the XI, and win games. He’s earning his time:

Perfect example here from a recent Hoffenheim goal. This is how you disorganise blocks and manipulate marking. Through rotation, mobility & depth. These three combined together get you the most valuable thing in football: SPACE.
Don't think the 'pass & move' game has ever been so important than it is today. It feels like every good team, at the moment, is class at rotating positions, running off markers and finding spaces. You hear 'wide triangles' a lot but what makes them effective is the mobility within the rotation. It's one of the main reasons I think Brighton have been so good this season too.

WHEN Carrick goes, please please take responsibility for your decisions and go with him. Countless outright failures. You've had three goes at it. If this was a manager-type situation, he'd have been sacked a long time ago. Same rules apply. And the Glazers too, do one.

Pure class.
🗣️ Harry Kane on winning the Ballon d'Or. "I am almost speechless. Being here in London is so special. It looked like a good omen for me.
"To Vinnie [Kompany]... I know he's at home, or still in the hospital. I wish you well, and I hope this has given you a bit of energy.
you at, I have improved as a player, a person and a leader. I am glad to be bringing this trophy back to Bayern.
"To all my England teammates, we had a special year. It wasn't the perfect year, but we had a lot of good moments. It was an honour to captain and lead you.
"I want to say thank you to Tottenham Hotspur as well. I wouldn't be where I am here today without Tottenham, for sure. You allowed me to live my dream. All the ups and downs along with way on that journey has led me to this moment."
