🗣️ Michael Carrick asked if he'll consider stripping Bruno Fernandes of the captaincy.
"The most important thing for me is the team, the squad and the dynamics. It is about the football club, and doing what is best for it... I will always do what's best for the football club."
essing room, "It's not divided, no. We just need to get back to doing what we do best, and we will...
"That spirit, unity and togetherness needs to be there. I'll make sure it's there."

🗣️ Michael Carrick. "I think recently we haven't had a good time. I totally accept that, and what we are going through at the moment. We had five months of relative success [last season] in a spell where I was happy with a lot of things I was seeing, and we were doing as a team. ough lately.
"That's pretty obvious to see. We've had a spell we are really not happy with. Wednesday was a bad night for a lot of reasons. It hurt a lot. It hurt me in a lot of ways to see how the game panned out. It was really unacceptable to play like that, and be like that...
"My responsibility is to get a team on the pitch that represents this football club and the supporters, one they can be proud of, and of the identity we are showing.
"We have gone away from that in recent games which I am totally, fully aware of and definitely doing something about. It's important we all recognise that. I certainly recognise it.
"The foundation of this football club and its values have been put down for many, many years. I totally understand, and I get every single one of them. It comes down to humility, hard work and being really proud to live up to those values. There is a resiliance about this football club...
"Manchester United is always bigger, and always will be, than any single individual. It's bigger than me or any of the players. And it always will be...
"We are in a moment where it is not going well, and we need to show exactly what it means to be here...
"I am not entitled to be here. Entitlement can not be at this football club. I am not entitled to win. I am fully aware that it takes hard work and sacrifice to be here.
"We have kind of lost our way, but I am convinced we'll get it back."

🚨 The Independent Football Regulator has set out a proposed club levy of £20.3m.
The plan is for the wealthiest clubs to shoulder the biggest burden
IFR budget represents 0.22% of English football industry’s annual £9bn revenues.
The IFR budget is composed of three elements:
ng costs of £18.3m.
2. A £1m fund to cover potential litigation costs associated with regulatory actions.
3. The recovery of the IFR’s set-up costs incurred by Government and the IFR up to August 2027 spread over a 10 year period. The amount charged to clubs for the recovery set-up costs in year one will be £1m.
All regulated clubs in the top five divisions of English men’s football will be required to pay the levy to fund the IFR’s operations from 2027/28, replacing the current Government funding arrangement.
Under the proposed approach, illustrative fees are as follows:
The highest-earning Premier League clubs would contribute up to £1.8m per season, with fees averaging at less than 0.25% of their total revenue.
Most Premier League clubs will pay £600,000 per season.
Championship clubs not in receipt of parachute payments would pay around £45,000 per season
League One clubs would pay around £9,000.
League Two clubs £6,000
National League clubs will pay less than £600 per season.
There will be a six-week consultation period for clubs to discuss the levy.
🗣️ IFR CEO Richard Monks:
“The announcement of the levy is another big moment for the IFR. Over the last year we have been busy laying the ground for the world’s first independent football regulator.
“We have already started to deliver real change in football – whether that’s through the stringent suitability checks we are running on owners and directors or through the State of the Game report which shone a light on how the football industry needs to change.
“The levy we are proposing today represents a fair and balanced approach and will ensure that most clubs pay around 0.1% of their annual revenues.
“We are confident football will see this is a relatively modest investment to help achieve a more sustainable ecosystem which will provide peace of mind for fans, clubs and the communities they serve.”
The IFR will now also shift its focus to building the licensing system for the 116 clubs.

🗣️ Asian Football Confederation President Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al-Khalifa has endorsed Gianni Infantino's bid for re-election despite previously accusing the FIFA President of a "breach of trust".
Addressing Infantino at the AFC's extraordinary congress in Tokyo, Sheikh hat we reaffirm our full commitment to supporting you and your leadership as you seek a new mandate as a FIFA president.
"I want to make it clear: yes, we had some issues we spoke about in the past but let's not relate the two things together.
"I think the last few days we met in Zurich. You made it clear that there was a true, a clear understanding between us.
"We need to move forward. And we believe football is strongest when we work together with a shared vision and a common purpose.
"As one Asian family we are ready to move forward, united in your support Gianni. I just want to make that clear today."

Michael Carrick will face the media today ahead of taking charge against Bournemouth. A sign of business as usual, according to #MUFC sources.
Yet Carrick is under pressure and a change of manager remains possible given the club is on a seven-game winless run.
Free agents Eddie Howe and Julian Nagelsmann form part of Manchester United's thinking. Howe was recommended by former Manchester United sporting director Dan Ashworth, but the sporting leadership picked Ruben Amorim.
Unai Emery, Antonio Conte, Cesc Fabregas and Simone Inzaghi other names appreciated. Emery highly-regarded. When last considered prior to Michael Carrick's appointment, it was made clear he wasn't looking to leave Villa.
talkSPORT understands Fabian Hürzeler will stay at Brighton.
