It’s a bloodbath in Bay Area. Thousands of layoffs, more to come.
Met a founder this morning who mentioned his AI tech is laying off 2000 call center workers.
Not sure if society is ready for such upheaval. Gut wrenching

@hellosimar Do not pay attention to this. No call center workers are in the Bay Area of SF. None. You'd have to pay them $60K. They either pay them $40K in UT or, most likely, $2K overseas.

@hellosimar The AI bots taking calls are so off putting. I would voluteer for war against them. It is like calling a wall and expecting an answer. They will flood the market with them and there will be no choice left…. Unfortunately.
We live in a post human dystopia. For now

@hellosimar Those call center job losses will happen outside of the US

@hellosimar A lot of layoffs, and a ton of hiring as well.
Ex: If you are a phenomenal COO or operations person in NYC or SF, there are so many companies who are seeking a top 1% person in that seat.

@hellosimar Not sure if he's ready to lose customers who want to talk to a person and not a slop bot.

@hellosimar AI is just a cover story. Starbucks just moved $800M in IT work to India. Oh the irony...

@hellosimar It's all going to get SO much worse from here. Not just in the US, but all over the world. We aren't ready for what's coming - none of us.

@hellosimar Silicon Valley is 70% Asian. Why are they still allowed to maximize visas. It’s unbelievable the nepotism and scams within the system while so many are out of work.

@hellosimar Another reason H-1B visas must be halted and in many cases revoked, otherwise it will be American citizens taking the brunt of AI driven layoffs.

@hellosimar If you’re running a call center with 2,000+ employees in the SF Bay Area, I feel like that’s a very self inflicted problem

@hellosimar Where are those 2000 call center workers they are laying off? I think most of these AI replacement folks are non-US. Not that that makes this any less painful but it won't show up in our statistics.
For knowledge worker US jobs AI is a helper but not a replacement yet.

@hellosimar @Lets_b_Cool Talking to an AI operator is one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had. It is an example of companies being too big to succeed.

@hellosimar Once they lay off all cold callers and content writers in India, AI (“all-India”) will be dead 😆

@hellosimar good... bring the recession on - the worse the better - need to clear the rot in this country/system. Maybe then the H1Bs can run back home unless they wanna pay the ludicrous inflated home prices, taxes, etc.

@hellosimar Lmfao. Fuck every single one of those Bay Area egomaniacs. Society will be just fine without them, don’t worry. Those fancy tech jobs actually contribute nothing to society as a whole, definitely not essential workers. Actually comical levels of inflated self importance

@hellosimar They will replicate it in Bangalore - brace for impact -
@ankitatIIMA Ji has been at this for a while - he has fought it out with our own RWs to stick to the narrative that is becoming the truth .

@hellosimar I personally will not give any business to companies if I find out they are using AI assistance. I will hang up, and make sure to leave a terrible review.

@hellosimar Yes I'm not sure why society is working on tech to lay itself off. Oh to rehire at cheaper costs

@hellosimar The Bay Area housing market is totally controlled by the high paying tech industry, destroying lives of generations of natives who waited for over 30 years and could never buy a house.
AI making thousands of employees redundant is good news to many.

"Of course #Boomers would leave Millennials behind."
They already shipped away the free college, manufacturing jobs, and now the housing market. Soon only Boomers can retire.
Millennials were still in high school and college when housing was last affordable!

@hellosimarime Apple iPhone will have your own AI agent who can talk to the call center AI agent and tell that if AI is calling, I am answering, if human is calling, I will connect the call. This is how my sense is it will go. But for sure low value tasks will go away from human calling.
