🚨BREAKING NEWS from #ESCCongress: The 2026 ESC Guidelines for the Management of Heart Failure are here, with major changes!🫀

Some of them:
📍HFrEF now includes LVEF <50%; HFmrEF has been removed
📍HFpEF is defined as LVEF ≥50%
📍“Acute HF” becomes “decompensated HF,” incdeterioration requiring urgent treatment, even in an ambulatory setting
📍New treatment framework: Foundational Medical Therapy (FMT), Additional Medical Therapy (AMT) & Guideline-Directed Interventional Therapy (GDIT)
📍New decongestion strategy: urinary sodium-guided diuretic therapy may be considered (IIb B), while short-term acetazolamide or hydrochlorothiazide should be considered for persistent fluid overload despite loop diuretics (IIa B)
📍CRT recommendations remain broadly similar, but implantation may be planned earlier after FMT initiation
