@DschlopesIsBack Somehow Colorado got Strength coach confused with β€œDiversity is their strength” coach.

LOTR is arguably the single greatest example of moral realism in all of literature.

Injecting moral relativism into Middle Earth fundamentally misunderstands Tolkien and flies in the face of everything he stood for.

And don't come at me with 'moral complexity.'

Relativism isn't complexity. It's confusion. It's a collapse of distinctions that has nothing to offer but meaninglessness and despair.

In order to have meaningful 'moral complexity,' you have to establish a distiction between light and dark, right and wrong, good and evil. The complexity arises among characters that must navigate a world where both forces act around, upon, and within them.

What modern Hollywood calls 'moral complexity' is actually just the erasing the distinction between good and evil.

If a story can't show you light and dark, it can't say anything meaningful about them. Classic storytellers understood this. Modern Hollywood has completely memory holed it.

I used to review officer-involved shooting reports generated by a D.A. explaining the decision to exonerate officers, and recall often thinking β€œI mean, could that *really* be how it went down?” I suspected there may be some fog of war or selective memory or post-hoc justification to give the officer a rational justification and paint the victim in a negative, irrational light.

But with the post-2020 adoption of body cams, I now believe it all. There is no behavior too insane for a huge number of suspects when confronted with literally any command by an officer requesting some form of compliance.

Even I thought body cams would shine a light on some substantial percentage of clear officer abuse, but it’s clearly negligible, while dangerous and erratic behavior by suspects is widespread. It is impossible to overstate how wrong BLM and reform activists were on this count.

"And thus did Melkor breed the hideous race of the Orcs in envy and mockery of the Elves, of whom they were afterwards the bitterest foes." -The Silmarillion, Chapter III (Of the coming of the Elves and the captivity of Melkor)

"With them they brought Gelmir son of Guilin, that m they had captured in the Bragollach; and they had blinded him. Then the heralds of Angband showed him forth crying: 'We have many more such at home, but you must make haste if you would find them; for we shall deal with them all when we return even so.' And they hewed off Gelmir's hands and feet, and his head last, within sight of the Elves, and left him." - Of the Fifth Battle

"For the Men of Brethil had waylaid at the Crossing of Teiglin the Orc-host that led the captives of Nargothrond, hoping to rescue them; but the orcs had at once cruelly slain their prisoners, and Finduilas (Orodreth's daughter) they pinned to a tree with a spear." - Of Turin Turambar

"But at last Haldad was slain in a sortie against the orcs; and Haldar, who rushed out to save his father's body from their butchery, was hewn down beside him." - Of the coming of Men into the West

The orcs are, in fact, rampaging monsters, and this attempt at subversion of the canon by the showrunners is particularly grotesque.

Just when I thought this show couldn’t sink any lower or misunderstand the source material further.
[NEWS] β€œMarnΓ»kh is a character meant to challenge long-held perceptions of Orcs. He’s such a departure from past depictions that within the production, MarnΓ»kh has picked up the catchy nickname, β€œthe Orc with an arc.”

It’s happening anyway if I had to guess.
If Republicans do well in the midterms because of the 65+ vote, Iran is getting turned into an ash tray.

@CaseyMattox_ You can debate ideas with words or you can debate them with violence. Men understand that but modern women are largely shielded from it. That's why some seem so eager to declare others as total enemies.

@HannahDCox @CaseyMattox_ It's hilarious how little you know about the origins of debate and logical argumentation so instead of trying to understand the point, you immediately jumped to emotionalism.

There's a reason men were the ones who founded academia and debating societies a 1000 years ago lol.

In free nations, we investigate crimes to see who is guilty of them.

In communist tyrannies, they investigate men to see what they can be punished for.

A couple things here. 1) He's right, 2) his statement is incomplete, and 3) you're fishing for clicks using racial resentment.

1-All Christians are united in Christ by the Holy Spirit. It's the church universal. I pray for brothers in other parts of the world, especially when I hear of evil like what happens to Nigerian Christians persecuted by Islamic fanatics.
2-Our duties tho are not to everyone on the planet. I have a greater duty to my family, my church here, my neighbors, and my country than someone on the other side of the world.
3-Stop doing retarded engagement baiting.

I think Singal is representative of a lot of liberals in that he sort of concedes the necessity of immigration law in the abstract, but finds the actual act of deportation to be shocking and cruel unless it occurs under impossible to satisfy circumstances.

Immigration advocates make these circumstances impossible, in the same way advocates have made a clean death penalty impossible so what remains to be incompetently administered provokes public sympathy.
@MrAndyNgo so your understanding of how this works is if the government thinks you defrauded the US and you don't have legal status here, you should be deported to a country you have no connection to and just dropped there with no money?
