I've said in the past that I get to do a lot of cool things that I often don't get to share. Well, I did a thing and you all get to enjoy it.

Name one? How about a few?

Rockefeller lowered the cost of kerosene through efficient refining and distribution.

Ford made automobiles affordable through mass production.

Carnegie reduced steel production costs through industrial innovation.

Walton lowered retail prices through bulk purchasing and efficient logistics.

Dell made computers cheaper by eliminating retail intermediaries.

Kamprad made furniture affordable through flat-pack manufacturing and distribution.

Bezos intensified retail competition through Amazon.

Koum made international messaging practically free through WhatsApp.

Page and Brin made search, navigation, email, and translation available without direct charges.

And that's barely scratching the surface.

In fact, it would be considerably more challenging to find a billionaire who earned their fortune through voluntary trade without lowering costs, improving quality, increasing productivity, or making something more accessible.

That's how fortunes are generally made in competitive markets. You create value for others, and the more people you serve, the greater your potential reward.

You don't even have to buy from these businesses to benefit. Their competitors must improve their offerings or risk losing customers.

These clout chasers destroy their credibility daily without so much as flinching.

They enjoy the accumulated benefits of capitalist innovation while confidently demanding evidence that any of it ever happened.

The economic illiteracy would be impressive if it weren't so commonplace.
Name one time a billionaire has lowered your bills

I was digging through my photo collection looking for photos from an event I did earlier this year. I found a bunch of my aurora photos from the few times over the last few years that auroras were visible <40 deg north.

I hope that's not over until next solar cycle. And maybe I'll get lucky over the next few years going up to Idaho and whatnot, I'll get another chance, maybe see something with definition rather than faint red glow.

This is fucking amazing. 2026 is not failing to entertain.
The meme appeared to reference gender-swapping “Malfoid” fan fiction, a term with incel roots. When asked about it, the DOE responded by quoting Dumbledore. buff.ly/tDl4XWY

Bitch plz, in 1999 you would have downloaded it from Napster, taken the few tracks you liked, put something on your blog about how the album sucked.

I can't wait for the Downfall memes to start dropping.
Last month, one of the sales guys at Micro Center asked me why there's a rush on DGX Sparks. I told him that Dario and Sam have spooked the nation, and that's what made me realize that the only way forward is with local compute since our American incumbents are evil and retarded.

Dear VP Dumbledore,

We are eating plenty of candy. Tell Dobby to pick up the pace.

DC Range Day Announcement

Went to the range today to check out how to get a group event going. I put everyone I could in a group chat, but if you don't follow me I can't add you.

If you are interested let me know. We still have not set a date yet. Looking to get final RSVP, s, and go do it! We will have all kinds of things for you to try.

Keep in mind this is targeted at anyone who has no experience at all, or are afraid or otherwise wanting to learn. If you are experienced that's fine too. You don't even have to like it, but at least you can say you did it.

AI people only see resources through the lens of AI.
I Agree with Sam Altman.

First of all, local models are useless, they're dumb and slow

You'll spend ~$1000 on 128 GB RAM to run a local model

And you won't get anything done with it, dumb models at 8tps are useless

A $20 subscription will get more things done

And for 95% of the time, RAM is not being used so it's doing less work there compared to in a data centre where utility is more
Community note
Local models on suitable 128GB hardware often run at 30+ tokens/second and offer practical uses; 128GB DDR5 RAM kits currently start above $2200, not ~$1000.

Could the dipshit be anymore clear about trying to create the "permanent underclass" situation he claims to want to avoid by creating a situation where he or the other member of his duopoly can deny those they don't like service and then they are just locked out of AI permanantly
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman believes people owning RAM is wasteful, and that it belongs in data centers instead.

"From a global allocation perspective, actually, it’s quite terrible to have everyone have a bunch of the world’s limited supply of DRAM sitting in their own computer."

@jamespoulos made the point that compute is a de novo implication of the second amendment. And they are being proven absolutely right.

Altman's argument here is no different than the anti-gun trope of "you don't need guns, the government has them"

@kaukosaataja You have to think in caveman terms. These debates are two tribes recruiting allies. TPUSA’s argument is “The other tribe is mean.” The other tribe’s argument is “We outnumber them. We’re organizing to kill them. We tell them to their face and they do nothing.” Who’d you join?
