plot twist, we are in offseason mode:

- an mvp 2005 (xbox) recomp exists in beta but you need the iso or the xbox dump
- an mvp 2005 (pc) patch 6 is on the way
- a full decomp of the xbox build (actual readable code) is in progress

never stop believing
@firstbaseman Good work, seems like it wasn't meant to be. Hopefully when someone attempts an ai port it's not complete slop garbage

@imjuanca Yeah, kinda.

Basically, I created my star player with the name of the player I want to use then through memory hacks I replace his attributes/appearance/form with what the game has for that player in the roster database, like Brice Turang or Gunnar Henderson for example.

some notes (or how I did this):

- ProSpi files are all encrypted + a custom method from Konami from what I've found, so this is just in-memory stuff I've been able to tinker with offline.
- The WBC rosters are in the player/team DB, just region locked, but this is neat!

In this new Star Player timeline, the MLB lockout is in effect for the 2027 season.

So in my timeline, Aaron Judge makes his debut as the superstar RF for the Eagles, so I've managed to make some...edits to ensure I play him as an independent league player for now as #33😂

@ApacaveliThaDon The reddit link has a .sav file.

That .sav file is the league that has all of the teams and players, and the way SMB4 works is that you need that .sav to be "signed" to your account. The import tool is meant to sign the save so it shows up for you.

Here are the steps:

So, Star Player is a fun career mode because so much of what you do in between games/series helps your on-field progress.

You can unlock regional restaurants that keep your fatigue down, make extra money on your own merch, and you can even romance one of many women!
Star Player mode in Pro Spirits is awesome.

In my 2029 season, I'm on a mission to bring the Eagles their first championship in 16 years

No worries, the game provides 4 batting cameras.

I turned off a bunch of visual stuff on purpose though
@firstbaseman my only complaint is when the camera is askew I can never tell what's a ball and what's a strike

@bobbygameday They don't play a home game the rest of the season, but I'd like to think the plan is to wear these at home all October while it's an alt, and then make it the official home uniform next season with the proper TB logo on the helmet/hat instead of what they currently have

10/ Chris Gill has shaped Sony’s baseball games since the 989 Sports era, helping guide the series into MLB The Show.

From producer to gameplay/animation lead to Director of Gameplay, few people have had a longer influence on how a franchise's gameplay should feel.

9/ Jason Leigh brought MVP Baseball’s design DNA to The BIGS, first as its game designer and later as Creative Director on The BIGS 2.

Their philosophy was simple: don’t break baseball. Exaggerate it. The result was arcade baseball that still fundamentally understood the sport.

8/ Ben Brinkman helped shape MVP Baseball before taking that design philosophy to MLB 2K.

At 2K, he pushed baseball toward more expressive analog hitting, pitching and throwing through gestures. The idea was to make outcomes feel more tied to a player's input.

7/ Brent Nielsen produced MVP Baseball 2003-05 and helped define the modern simcade philosophy: baseball could be authentic and deep without sacrificing fun or accessibility.

MVP was built around that idea, and the genre still lives in its shadow.

6/ Mark Dickenson directed and co-designed High Heat Baseball 1999 and 2000, some of the foundational baseball sims of its era, essentially a 3D interpretation of Strat-O-Matic, prioritizing simulation over spectacle.

He later became Senior Producer on MVP 07: NCAA Baseball.

He later produced Triple Play 98/99, carrying that design lineage from Sega to EA.
