This was a 5+ magnitude earthquake where I was and woke me and fam up at 1am. A proper house shaker, went on for what felt like minutes.
About 40 minutes ago a magnitude 5.7 earthquake struck western Shizuoka Prefecture at a depth of 40 km, with a maximum seismic intensity of 5-upper on Japan's scale. The Prime Minister's Office has established a liaison office to coordinate the government's response.

Erm, is a guy called Ted single handedly building a VSCode and Rider replacement, specifically for .NET? This is wild

Nopey nope nope. Standups especially if remote are there to build trust and accountability in the team. Meetings are about relationship management. If you can’t show your face once a day then there is no team just mercenaries.
A daily stand-up where everyone reads their tickets is a meeting I can skip.
Put the status updates in writing. Use the call when someone needs help or a decision needs discussion.
What did your last stand-up unblock?

Pump whatever this is directly into my veins
Lets go C#!!
Lets go C#!!
I was Rust-pilled for a period.
Then I remembered that I actually know C#.
.NET can achieve near-Rust performance, works on any platform, and has much nicer syntax and a great BCL. It also has amazing frameworks.
E.g. I am having SO much fun making Linux apps with @AvaloniaUI

I’m sorry… what? You can make $100k+ a year from YouTube..?
The reason I’m sharing this is because I’ve been chasing jobs paying over $300k in SF just to hit a new PR in base pay lol. But that really doesn’t matter since $230k in Vegas is similar to making $300k in SF.
And I kept forgetting about my YouTube income. Let’s say I hypothetically make $250k at a new tech job. Well, if I were to include brand deals, my total income would actually add up to around $350k–$400k/yr.
I kept forgetting how much money brand deals brought in and kept focusing more on inflating my own ego.
Stupid me was willing to work 50–60 hours per week on-site in SF and sacrifice spending quality time with my wife and 11-month-old daughter at home just to reach a number that meant nothing in the first place.

Been using Grok Bot for some life planning and organization over the last few days (it’s the best value “agent” in Japan with annual pricing).
I’m finding it a way better experience than the OpenClaw nonsense which took a long time to set up and you still have to pay extra for inference.
Using these agents like this is a deeply personal experience when you set it all up and give it access to your life, which is why I’ve always been apprehensive about using Copilot or even Claude provided by work. The IT department can read all your prompts at any time, which is like recording your thought processes. Even the possibility of it happening is intrusive.
(Coding with GitHub Copilot is different because prompts and agent logs stay on your machine. Whilst IT can pull those it’s much harder than just visiting an admin panel)
