At the same time your OS & software is really bad, and it isn't getting any better.

Sad.
We’re glowing with excitement over the new MacBook Pro. You’ve gotta touch it to believe it.

Made CommandDeck (Omarchy launcher, .NET 11 AOT + QML) snappier: typing 116→83 ms per key, 1-letter search 121→83 ms.
Microsoft.Data.Sqlite's async methods run synchronously, so my Task.WhenAll "parallel" queries ran one after another. Task.Run fixed it.

Perf pass: typing 116→83 ms (QML debounce + an invisible list animation repainting a 4K overlay for 2 s), search 121→83 ms (SQLite "async" isn't async), daemon start 254→214 ms at 10k folders (stopped reading the same files twice).

Had to make this with C#.
I built something like this 2 months ago.

Made it public - CommandDeck

~25 ms to open

Keyboard-first search for Omarchy/Hyprland. Apps, files, windows, Hyprland config keys, Omarchy menus.

Herdr, calculator, currency, dates, clipboard, snippets, AI.

I used Reverse Engineer Anything to re-create raycast on @omarchy. And I was blown away! In just a couple hours I have a fully-functioning raycast-like launcher! Right now it:

* Learns your habits
* Apps + every Omarchy action in one search
* Aliases & favorites
* Keyboard-first
* Foe live, opens in ~40ms

When in doubt, just use C# and ASP.NET Core.
It's blazing fast.

.NET 11 RC2 is even faster.

For me, it's the best overall major web framework - auth, config, logging, perf, modular middleware, DI, cross-plat, etc.

But I didn't expect this:
Campfire rewrite journey continues. I let the clankers run for a day, go through all the PRs that were submitted, verify the work, merge what was ready, and then ask it to bring all architectural improvements to each implementation. Good old C is now in the lead!

@DamianEdwards @davidfowl @EgorBo @ben_a_adams @SitnikAdam Repo at: github.com/devmobasa/once…

Code is done with Opus 5.5 and Sol 6.1.

It's not great. I just wanted to test the performance and see how far can ASP.NET Core version go.

C# >> all.

Awesome for tools and scripts with C# runfile (bash-like). Works amazing on Linux/MacOS.

Best major web framework by far.
Great desktop frameworks.
Great performance.
Great for services.

Tons of data on it so LLMs know are good at it, bunch of official docs.
.NET and F# are here waiting for you all

Very fast inner loop compile times

Strong type systems

Great deployment models

C# FTW again github.com/devmobasa/ttfx

Against Python up to 140x faster!

Against Rust from 0.3.3 version that DHH referenced here up to 2.12x

Since you don't like Rust, you can just port it to a much prettier language like C#, and no need to sacrifice performance.

C# on Linux So good, and so fast.
For bash-like scripts, tools, CLIs, services, apps.
I ported the Omarchy screensaver engine (ttfx) from Rust to x86-64 assembler, and it's up to 17x faster!! One-shot translation by Opus 5.5. We keep drilling until the agentic drill bit hits bedrock! github.com/omacom/ttfx/pu…

@SitnikAdam @EgorBo @DamianEdwards Also mem/cpu performant. No issues even for a screensaver. At end of the day, Rust is probably better for a screensaver, but C# can surely compete.

C# FTW

Everyone doing performance tests: please stop excluding C#. Thanks.

After all, this is a top language in Age of Agents. Along with Rust.

How quickly can you create small strings, per programming language? Python, C++, Rust, Go? Is Bun slower or faster than Node.js? Read my article to find out.

First part is far-fetched for sure.

"Working on @AmpCode" makes me wonder about the bias here :)
Most predictions I see are still way too conservative.

Astra token usage is definitely a lot better now. For any kind of task.

I say this with a lot of love for my friends and peers at the model and neocloud companies: you probably shouldn’t take workflow and stack recommendations from people who have access to unlimited tokens. nothing malicious, but they’re not concerned about the economics of tokens just yet.

so the exception/nuance is if your business/org has been constructed in such a way that tokens burnt translates into revenue (or reliability, or some menaningful advantage) in a real way. that’s a problem actually worth working on in your org.
