There's nothing kind about letting good people live in a fantasy world that no longer exists. You have to tell them, even if it hurts. Because the sooner they accept reality, the sooner they can adapt to the future.

@dhh You're right. But I think it's good to give people some time and don't do a hard cut-off. Not everyone can adopt that fast. Some (the majority?) needs some time. Not everyone has some million dollars on their bank account and many need to feed their families.

@hirschnase The more time you need to adjust, the more important it is to get started on that adjustment early. And the hour is already late.

@dhhnd that. You can't deny that this change will make the majority of Software Developers and jobs in the IT in general redundant. What we see here is the industrialization of IT in light speed. And like with the industrialization process in every other industry, only maybe 10% of the human capacity is necessary in the future. Not everyone can and will be a "machine operator".

@dhh @hirschnase Putting the power back into the hands of conscientious users is long overdue. What is happening now is a literal boon.

@dhh @hirschnase I get not putting your head in the sand. But...

Adjust to what? Typing poor english into a magic box? It's not a skill. People can get up to speed very quickly. They're not late. Insisting they feel fomo and panic about a future that no one can predict is not kind.
