"The left couldn’t decide what a boy and girl were in 2021 and the right doesn’t know if a war criminal authoritarian is humanitarian or not in 2026."
I'd just amend this to note that the left still doesn't know in 2026, which kind of sums up our politics today.

Just think about the fact that in 2026 this has to be written. The left couldn’t decide what a boy and girl were in 2021 and the right doesn’t know if a war criminal authoritarian is humanitarian or not in 2026.
Next year, let’s debate gravity

I get to the point with Trump and Vance and the Ramaswamy ad and the Woke Right and the Groypers that I start to agree with the Bulwark types that the entire GOP has to be decimated -- and then I read crap like this.
The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics has a conference session on unpacking eurocentrism in math class and ethnomathematics
Are we still doing this?!

One final irony about the repulsive Vivek ad. The Republicans defending it (now including Donald Trump) are lauding Acton's mother for doing exactly what the loathsome liberal Lindsay Clancy "supporters" condemn Patrick Clancy for NOT doing: ie, to be blunt, placing their relationship with their sex partners, and thus their own sexual gratification, above the lives and safety of their children. To me that's a basic moral test. All too many Democrats failed it on Clancy, not surprisingly. We'll see if the Republicans do any better on Ramaswamy/Acton. I'm not holding my breath.
Well said. About both Vance and Vivek. (Read the first blurb from his article for the best summary I've seen of the repulsive Vivek ad.)

At some point it's all just too much, no? People putting politics above basic human decency? Normal people still find this stuff repulsive, right?
President Trump strongly defends Vivek Ramaswamy’s ad featuring Amy Acton’s estranged mom. Trump: “That took a lot of courage to do but, essentially, what she was really doing was saving Ohio from making a truly horrible choice! The Press is trying to convince everyone that this so good! Who wouldn’t use such an Ad? I would, it’s called, ‘hitting pay dirt.’”

J.D. Vance is a garbage human being and I think much, much less of the (thankfully, fewer) people I still see on here defending him. thebulwark.com/p/jd-vance-is-…

In the bipartisan stupidity department, both Vivek Ramaswamy and Cenk Ugyur have made complete asses of themselves in the last 48 hours.

One thing I can say about 2026 is that I actually hate and despise JD Vance as much as I do Abdul Rahman El-Sayed and Zohran Mamdani.
The same can be said about Hasan Piker and Tucker Carlson.

I’ve met the people around JD and know how these circles work and there’s this belief that you always have to double down and betraying any hint of empathy or pang of conscience is “cucking.” That’s how you end up telling people not to be squeamish about child rape like JD.
I think they’re kinda stuck with it now.
The weirdest thing about modern politics is how detached it is from, like, normal human life. “Pretty much everyone thinks this is bad” just doesn’t register as a possibility to a lot of people who you’d think would know better lol

This is so true, and like so much from the Woke Right just mirrors the Left. Ie, you're not allowed to criticize Ta-Nehisi Coates until you've done a deep dive into his work. But most people have lives to lead.
The "New Right" idiots keep telling us we need to engage their stuff point by point without dismissing it with "absurd labels," but have you ever actually tried this?
Their points are both detailed and wrong. They take absurd amounts of knowledge and energy to take apart logically, and they're held emotionally so the people who hold them don't care when you do, and they have another talking point in the chamber anyway, equally bad.
In fact, they're usually "not even wrong." It can take you hours of digging just to figure out where they're coming from and how they reached a conclusion that doesn't make any sense.
And then, you're just a "neocon" (absurd label) or "Jewish shill" (absurd label) for attempting it because it has nothing to do with truth at all to begin with.

Vance doubled down on this today.
This might be a funny thing for me to post since I'm not particularly crazy about either Netanyahu or Trump myself. But JD, you're the Vice President. Your job is to support the President--not to only toady up to him when he agrees with your groyper antisemite friends but undermine him when he doesn't. If Trump supports Bibi, you support Bibi--no matter what Tucker thinks about it!

"It’s like Queers for Palestine on the Right."
I’m reliably told Peter Theil did a meeting in DC with actual evangelicals and his sexual ethic was off limits, so the evangelicals chose not to engage. But the Christian nationalists have no problem with it. It’s like Queers for Palestine on the Right.

Yup,🎯. This is what is SO galling to those of us on the Sane, Not-Country-Club-RINO-but-Not-Racist-Trash-Either, Right. Indians? Indians?!?! They're turning on INDIANS?!
A peaceful Indian dance at a mostly Asian American community center.
GOT to say: is anyone else noticing that - unlike beef between say Blacks, "redneck" Southern boys, and Mexicans - no videos of Indian violent crime are EVER shown?
