I love AI. Sometimes probably even too much 🙈
Every couple days there's a reminder tho, that we're still some ways off from freeing ourselves of manual code reviews completely.

Played with herdr a bit this week and have to say I still prefer my custom cmux build (custom cause @lawrencecchen @austinywang's agents won't merge my notification fix PRs 🙈)

some thoughts ⬇️

On the downside for cmux, the last release was a month ago; it feels way too patched together and vibe-coded, with no product tastemaker to filter new additions. I mean, just look at this monster of a settings page (and the sidebar is neither alphabetically sorted nor does it ..)

can't wait for @mitchellh to release a first version of @superlogical, really hoping it'll hit that middle ground of herdr's philosophy but bringing ghostty's imo superior UX and design taste 🤞

From @JamesClear’s latest letter, rang very true

Don't quite get what everyone's on about with cloud sessions tbh.

They are SO much slower in my experience (tested codex & claude cloud envs several times on real workloads)

I do hope we'll get there in terms of performance cause my macbook's CPU would sure like to take a break every once in a while 😬

otoh i also wonder whether this is another instance of that Cloud IDE hype we've had a while back where the hype train was proclaiming that everyone would only be using Cloud IDEs very soon and then... that never happened

The frequent @github outages stem from their overly generous open-source stance imo. All public repos get code hosting and CI for free, which is kind of insane when you think about what it must cost them.

We have a few large public monorepos, and we're surely burning thousands of $ of compute every month.

I mean, I love it, but it feels like the tragedy of the commons all over again.

Even tho I'd hate it as a dev, they should probably start charging at least small amounts for their currently free GitHub Actions product, which would then also prompt more people to look at alternatives like @useblacklabel
