🧠 Did you know chewing gum can alter your FDG PET scan results?
During the uptake phase, chewing gum stimulates the masseter and facial muscles 😬, causing increased physiologic FDG uptake 🔥. This can:
• Reduce image clarity 🖼️
• Mimic disease ⚠️
• Complicate interpretation 👤
✅ Best practice: No chewing gum during the FDG uptake period.
🔬 Small details matter in molecular imaging.
