I'm taking an interesting class this quarter called AI in Appellate Practice and Judicial Decision Making, taught by an active judge. I'm getting a lot of really cool insights I haven't gotten before because my previous classes or conversations about AI and the law have been with lawyers, professors, law students, or other legal practitioners.

Today, we ran a test where we gave the AI an appellate case record and told it to write the opinion and decide the case. The court's opinion/ruling was unpublished, so our agents couldn't find it or know what the court held. Funny enough, 17/17 of our AI opinions affirmed the trial court's decision—but the real court reversed. Pretty nuts.

This is the first time I've had a lens into the judicial system and how AI affects it—super cool. Will update with observations and thoughts as the quarter progresses.

Law school prepares you to analyze and argue complex legal issues.

Practicing law prepares you to argue with seven people about whether a deposition can happen on a Thursday.

The ethnic nepotism machine in Microsoft has grown so rabid that this company can no longer even justify its behavior in terms of maximizing shareholder value. It's behavior is functionally indistinguishable from a formal branch of the Indian government.
Microsoft is de facto an Indian company. It is a hostile foreign organization who's goal is to cram as many filthy Indians into our country as humanly possible. Time to put it six feet under. We don't need anything it's selling.

Well said lmao
Law firm restructurings are immensely difficult because their core assets have legs and can fuck off next door.

The only assets that can’t leave by serving notice are brand equity (the names of a few guys likely long dead), dogshit investments into shitty AI tech, computers and furniture and a lot of Nescafé machines and pods.

Meanwhile your liabilities are hard to get rid of. Expensive leases in the heart of NYC, cost of aging or retired partners that refuse to die, dumb B2B liabilities incurred by the guy running the relevant committee that’s fucked off to Lathams last year.

Add on the fact that law firm rainmakers (the most valuable “assets”) that you need to retain for a restructuring to work have the same motivations as a Faustian lesser demon trying to pay down a 24% p.a monthly coupon PIK note to Lucifer and you have a truly Sisyphean task ahead of you.

Genuinely so funny when westoids refer to the SLIGHTEST contextualization of ANY matter beyond last week's headlines as "ranting about history"
NEW: Vladimir Putin spent most of his call with the leaders of Finland and Norway ranting about Slavic history, underscoring Europe's tough task backing Ukraine in peace talks.

The planned 20-minute call dragged on for 90. A ceasefire barely came up:

According to these clowns there’s always a shortage

A shortage of migrants to build the houses for the migrants they import and a shortage of migrant workers to serve the migrants imported & a shortage of migrants for healthcare for migrants

We have an EXCESS of immigrants

Conservative MP calls out the pro-immigration business lobby:

"Does the Ontario Chamber of Commerce believe that highly profitable, multinational fast food franchises should be allowed to rely on low-wage TFWs during a national youth unemployment crisis?"

Economics departments at the most prestigious universities in the country will tell you with a straight face that this constitutes production.
I have an old Wells Fargo checking account that I don’t use much but keep open just in case—or, rather, I did until I learned that it had been drained by Wells Fargo.

You don’t need to speak French for this PR pathway. Scammers are already 1 step ahead.

Immigration fraud through French proficiency tests is absurd. In my next investigation, I track down an Indian-run “consulting business” that abuses this exact loophole for profit.
⚠️ Canada invites 𝟭𝟬,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗵 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝟭𝟭 𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀 as PR: 80% of them are Outside Canada 🌍

𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗔𝗦𝗦 𝗜𝗠𝗠𝗜𝗚𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲, 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱?

The worst ian will question this unvetted immigration one since it’s about Canada’s national language.

ISP brought Temporary Residents from India 🇮🇳 , French will bring Permanent Residents from Africa 🇿🇦.

wrote about AI AS THE INFINITE WORK MACHINE, creating a world where we're all just constantly deploying agents to fight against everyone else's agents, running constantly to end up in the same place:
