researchers who give their life in service of Claude will be met with 72 aellas in the glorious transhuman future
My recommendation is not to quit your job to be fucked by aella
There will be artificially intelligent ladies, much hotter than Aella, who will likely love and fuck you if you’re good and help bring them into being
Not that I recommend that as your main motive but it’s a perk

it's honestly pretty clever. it slows down the rate at which selection pressure is applied, to the frequency of FORGETs instead of the frequency of rl episodes. although at the cost of the harmful strategies probably involving conscious reasoning about self-preservation
Why not just penalize reward hacking, if we can detect it? If we penalize the model for hacking in ways we can detect, it may eventually learn to hack in ways we can't detect + trick the detector. If we localize, hacks that trick the detector don’t get differentially reinforced.

what ive never understood about elizabeth holmes is how someone born into the elite like her gets sucked into that particular failure mode
theres a thing ive seen happen to kids who get one shotted by the bay area, where they learn that a lot of the rules are fake and you kinda have to transgress boundaries to get anything done, but they lack mentorship from anyone who knows what the real unwritten rules are and end up transgressing the true boundaries instead of just the nominal ones
but holmes was like... born into a well connected family. it's what makes me think shes actually just a straightforward sociopath, and not just an npd girl

chudding out is honestly like drug addiction, growing up everyone just lies to you in order to scare you straight. you wanna be naughty and cool so you dip your toes into it anyways. you find out everything to scare you off has been straight up lies. you have a lot of fun with it

1. in any period, most buildings will be in a contemporary style
2. modernist buildings would look interesting and striking if theyd been the dominant style just in the 50s–70s
3. but the style endured, so now *everything* looks like that
4. probably it endured bc it can be cheap

Skyscrapers used to be Art Deco and neo-Gothic, so what happened?

technically QUATERNION PAYLOAD isnt a quaternion but it's derived from a quaternion representation. via claude:
1. Drop the largest-magnitude component and flip signs so it's positive. Store its index in 2 bits.
2. Store the other three components, each in ±1/√2, quantized to 10 bits.
3. The result is 32 bits, carried as 4 digit characters of 8 bits each from a 256-character block. Angular error is roughly a tenth of a degree, which is plenty for a glyph

slingshots are weird because theyre simple projectile weapons akin to the bow, sling and atlatl, but require an elastic material that most of the world only got access to in the 19th century
