Brazil’s results tonight are a big endorsement for the idea that every country should have a second “are you you sure about that” election a couple weeks after the first one for the important stuff

I finished capitalist realism recently, and frankly it’s not that good. A lot of it is english major video essay slop about le big bad capitalism but there are a few gems and parts that deserve more elaboration on why I disagree.
I think consumerism is a very valid critique of isn’t fake, neither is the stock market, and bureaucracy is not evidence of capitalism’s inefficiency. Socialism is for developed countries and the reason it hasn’t happened yet is because material conditions weren't there, not because of hauntology or funko pops.
"What we call bureaucracy is merely the knowledge work equivalent of an assembly line."

I'm half way through capitalist realism and it sucks ass and is exhausting to read. It's just a giant book of whining that combined with it's constant need to reference movies and "stuck culture" makes it feel like videoessayslop by an english major.
No offense to fisher but I can tell that he suffered from depression. There is no meaningful analysis in this book, rather it is complaint after complaint, for which any further analysis is terminated by his depressive state.
There are some nice parts, where it discusses the atomization of humanity through individualism, but even then the book never actually explains the exact mechanism for this in an antihumanist, marxist, scientific or even liberal manner. Instead it's "le capitalism wants to sell you SSRIs" which is a poor causal mechanism.
I feel like this entire book could have been written by Adam Conover and I would be none the wiser.

I went to a halloween party friday and was telling the story of how in middle school one of my best friends got grounded for being a maoist (his grandparents fled the cultural revolution, lol) and one said I should meet her boyfriend
... it was him. I hadn't seen him 10+ years.
The spectre of communism is haunting NYC

One night at Progress Conference while sitting around a fire I said Nvidia making the H20 to skirt export controls was traitorous. This kinda killed the convo and someone turned to the person next to them and was like, ‘Soo, what do you do?’ And they were like ‘I work at Nvidia’
Nvidia allowed this through their own traitorous negligence and complacency

It’s underappreciated how radically different Jensen Huang’s view is of how AI progress is likely to go than the view of other AI CEOs.
For instance, he recently claimed that AGI will never replace domain expertise.

Yeah it's over. The cyber apocalypse is upon us. Even if this particular vuln gets patched every single nihilistic terrorist, state actor, criminal, etc. is going to be pointing ever more powerful models at virtually everything on the internet.

‼️ A low-skill hacker used a jailbroken DeepSeek V4 to breach an Indian public university and steal 5,200+ student and faculty records, Unit 42 says.
The AI agent even drafted a "NEXT EXPLOIT OPPORTUNITIES" plan.
Unrelated criminals now run the same cheap DeepSeek setup.
