My favorite lines from my favorite book of all time: War and Peace, by Leo Tolstoy. I can't overstate how much this beautiful book changed my life. I've realized nothing truly matters but loving others and trying to be virtuous!

In that split second Enzo Fernandez has only one choice. Yes, he can lose his nation the World Cup. But then he would miss the chance to commit an amazing, amazing, incredible foul. And if you understand Enzo Fernandez, you would understand he never even had a choice to make

Esta jugada en una semifinal de la Copa del Mundo debería de estar enmarcada en todas las escuelas de fútbol base del planeta. Qué barbaridad.

I totally dominated you at the museum dude. Pondered every piece for a couple seconds longer. Scratched my chin with more curiosity.

A lifetime ago, in my very first job, I worked as a college admissions dean for my alma mater.
We always held admitted students’ visit weekend in April, and I was blown away to learn that the admission staff could predict the “yield” from that event (the share of visitors who’d enroll) based on the forecast.
☀️ = the class might be over-enrolled
☔️ = we might be going to the wait list
They were never wrong in their weather-based predictions.
I’ve always considered this to be a fascinating indicator about the whole college application endeavor.

My favorite thing ever is when the NYT does a profile on a lib that did something bad and needs an image boost. They always have two pictures: the first has the subject in their house wearing a sweater and looking out a closed window. This creates the impression that they are ust want to be left alone, and the NYT will run this pic regardless of whether the subject started the fight in the first place. The second picture has the subject walking in a park or a garden looking pensive, as if to suggest that they will bravely push through their fear and ultimately triumph over the bad guys.
Okay journos: Have any of you written a piece about a person and, prepublication, on your own or via your editor, asked photographers whether they had a photo of the person specifically “not smiling” or “looking unhappy”?

You either die a Patriots hater or you live long enough to see your QB lead them to a Super Bowl and Bill Belichick become the head coach at your alma mater

Seth Trimble is everything college basketball is supposed to be. Came in as a freshman and didn't play. More minutes as a sophomore. Starter as a junior. Star and leader as a senior. He deserves this moment. He etched his name into history. They'll be talking about this for generations.
SETH TRIMBLE WINS IT AT THE BUZZER 🤯🔥😱
