It doesn't matter what side of Trumpland they're on, anymore: the conservative punditry has become so fucking unlikable.
@Kendally8X You should probably read my piece that you’re too afraid to read where I literally broke down this exact poll that you’re trying to misrepresent by relying on AI instead of your own reading comprehension

Reminds me how the massive MPS budgeting scandal broke 4 years ago after the election because the media didn't want voters to be influenced by ... information.
Wow I’m just the most shocked I’ve ever been that this came out the day after the election.

My thinking on the Lear 60 crash begins with the elemental question of why that crew flew into that storm. That's why I think that it will eventually score as crew error.

Once they were in it, though, Nathalia Filgueiras' fidelity to her training was obvious to me. It sticks in mind that she kept calling out her jet's tail number, to the end. That sort of grip on one's own mind in a moment like that is the opposite of hysteria. She was deliberately and consciously trying to keep doing her job.

That is eminently honorable.
Been stuck in Learjet crash 𝕏 for days and had to put the phone down.

That copilot did the best she could in a fatal situation she didn't create. She kept communicating while every instrument told her impact was coming. Not perfectly composed, sure, but I don't know many people, male or female, who could do that.

She should be held up as a model, not picked apart in the comments.

Pratt makes a good point. Trump offended too many people. And those people voted emotionally on the vibes. L
If costs mattered, not one California politician would ever be re-elected. If results mattered, you wouldn't have uniparty rule in this failed state for a generation. People vote for vibes and the brand. Everything else is faux rationalizing.

The Democrats have a mandate to investigate. They just do.

We can complain they aren’t focusing on “affordability” right away, but they are going to have to walk and chew gum to satisfy the will of the voters.

Corruption was the 1st or 2nd biggest issue for most voters.

I understand that, for tweeting this, I’ll be accused of having a nefarious plan to “take back” the GOP. (As if I ever controlled it!) But a first step to recovery is shedding the idea that, before Trump, Republicans never won elections or achieved anything. They did.

Re JD Vance's statement: he's clearly distancing himself from Trump. And, as the only member of the administration Trump can't fire, the calculation becomes even easier. Finally, if Trump freezes him out, more campaign time for JD.

Rare level of transparency and insight here.

What is it worth and what will it mean moving forward?

That remains to be seen.

But to say that the administration has lost the benefit of the doubt is an understatement.

We're in "prove it" mode now. The 2028 election has begun.
One of the things the data analysts on our side obsessed over was "composition"—whether the electorate looked close enough to 2024 for Republicans to win. And despite polls that showed a Democrat blowout, the data kept on telling us the same story: in some states turnout was merely OK, in other states it was downright amazing, and in no state was it catastrophic. There was a genuine sense of optimism on our team: our people were showing up.

So, I asked the smartest data guy I know, does that mean we're going to shock the world? "No," he told me. "We might do better than the polls suggest. But the data is telling us that a lot of Trump/Vance 2024 voters are pissed and planning to vote for the other guys. Our voters are turning out, but they may not vote for us."

Well, that looks prophetic now. Our voters did show up. In Florida, for example, the electorate was 9 points more Republican than Democrat, just a couple points worse than 2024. Undoubtedly there were places we could have done better on turnout. But the main problem is not turnout. The main problem is that many people who voted for Trump/Vance in 2024 voted for Democrats in 2026.

There will be a lot of infighting and arguing over what happened and why that is. One of the pollsters I really respect told me that our economic messaging wasn’t sharp enough down the stretch. I’m sure that’s true.

But the real reason we lost is obvious to almost everyone.

Another pollster—one of the smartest people I know in politics, told me yesterday we’d lose the generic ballot by 13 points. I felt negative going into Tuesday, but even I was shocked by this. In his polling, he saw that a lot of Trump 2024 voters were angry and planning to vote for Democrats. He asked those voters who had abandoned us what would cause them to come back on our team. The top four answers, accounting for nearly all of the responses were:

1) End the war
2) Focus on cost of living/inflation
3) Put America First
4) Change our relationship to Israel

Our voters showed up. And the above four reasons are why many of them voted for Democrats. This is according to a pollster who nailed the results. While many spent Monday attacking Rachel Campos Duffy for calling for a diplomatic resolution to the conflict, it turns out her political advice was sound. (She’s also a great person.)

In the next few months, there's going to be a lot of gaslighting. Expect to hear any number of establishment politicians say the solution to our woes is amnesty. I'm open to the idea that we should change enforcement—by focusing more on businesses that hire illegal labor, for instance. But anyone pushing amnesty is lying to you.

The reason we lost is the war. The president himself said so last night.

If you'd like to argue it was worth it, that losing the Senate for the next 6 years was worth it, then do so. Argue it was a worthwhile cost to pay. Agree or disagree, that's at least honest.

But everyone knows why we lost. And any honest conversation about where we go from here must start there.

I remain hopeful about our country. To the people who are pissed off and want to say, “I told you so”: you’re right, you did tell us so. Take that energy into electing Republicans who share your worldview. To the people who are just pissed at the results, you should be. Let’s take that anger and get back to the work of saving our country.

I honestly don't know how anyone could watch the messaging out of this administration over the last 2 years and conclude anything other than rank incompetence, grift, and Trump self-indulgence. The voters can get past that if their day-to-day is going well. But that's not the case right now.

Its amazing to me how there are still people who believe that Trump had nothing to do with his beatdown last night, even after watching his governance and messaging over the last 2 years. What a bubble.

To add to Khaylee’s point:

If you’ve reoriented yourself to be the party of working-class, lower-propensity voters, you cannot be surprised when they vote (or stay home) based on how they are doing, economically.

That is part of the deal.
@Legal_Fil The ideology of any state didn't change in 2 years.

It's just people over with stupid antics.

Until this level of vapid incoherence leaves the conservative thought circles, we're screwed. We win on EVERY SINGLE ISSUE when we can relate them to people. Matt just wants a sloganeering rebrand.
The MAGA political brand is dead but America First as a movement and principle lives on and must live on. If the Republican Party will have any future, and if the country itself will have any future, it will be through America First.

Yes, the neocons totally are responsible. I can't believe they propped up Darlene Graham.
Lord, grant me the confidence the neocons will show tomorrow after this beating.

You won’t get a single apology. Not one.

At some level of narcissism, the 25th Amendment becomes a real consideration...
I wasn’t on the Ballot and if I was, we would have won IN A LANDSLIDE! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP

The craziest MAGA misconception has long been that they are part of this overwhelming "silent majority."

The odd part is that they are anything but silent. The obvious part is that they were never a majority. That's why Trump ran as a Republican and didn't create his own party.
