10,382 complaints about solicitors. Closed. No investigation.
That's 72% of everything the SRA handled last year.
We threatened judicial review. The regulator backed down and admitted its failings in writing.
Today we published the case for Parliament to replace it.
Not Fit .

Some facts for your caller, who seems to be very ill-informed:
The Jay Report (2014) gave a conservative estimate of 1,400 victims. I personally provided just under 1,800 names to the National Crime Agency, those were the victims I could remember by name , and their horrific abuse. They confirmed this number.
Of those 1,800 children , 327 were children in care, including those in children's homes and foster care.
When we talk about vulnerability, we should remember that the greatest vulnerability of all is being a child.
Childhood is not an excuse for adults to rape, traffic, abuse, or torture children. A 12-year-old who is threatened with a gun, or told that their loved ones will be harmed, is not making a free choice, they are complying under fear and coercion.
Children are children for a reason. The responsibility always lies with the adults who exploit and abuse them, never with the child.

I am pleased to announce that I have been granted Core Participant status in the National Inquiry into Grooming Gangs.
As the Rotherham whistleblower, this is deeply personal to me. Having spent decades challenging the failures that allowed so many children to be abused, and experiencing first-hand the consequences of speaking out, I see this as an important opportunity to finally have our voices heard.
I am ready to give evidence, speak openly and honestly, share what I know and ask the difficult questions that victims, survivors and their families have been waiting far too long to have answered.
This Inquiry must also be an opportunity for whistleblowers across the UK to come forward, be listened to and have their experiences taken seriously, without fear of intimidation or retaliation.
My hope is that this Inquiry delivers more than another set of recommendations. It must be an opportunity for truth, accountability and, most importantly, lasting change.
We cannot change the past, but together we must do everything possible to ensure future generations of children are better protected.
For every victim, survivor, family and whistleblower who has fought to be heard this is an opportunity to make our voices count.

The SRA said no. Twice.
Then we threatened judicial review.
Now it admits three failings and has agreed to withdraw BOTH decisions.
The regulator that demands accountability from solicitors has been forced to confront its own failures.
And this story goes right to the top.
More to come.

Our combined action has b stopped the SRA in its tracks this afternoon. If you have been rejected now is the time to resubmit and also let our friends at @BlindJusticeUK know! You are not alone.

Today, the Courts and Tribunals Bill returns to the House of Commons for its Second Reading.
The Bill contains a sinister proposal to significantly curb our ancient and precious right to trial by jury.
Andy Burnham may have moved an inch, but David Lammy’s authoritarian plan to ll very much alive and kicking.
Burnham’s ministers, like Starmer’s before them, believe that restricting defendants’ right to a jury trial is the most efficient way to reduce the Crown Court backlog — despite having no credible evidence to support this claim.
FSU research has shown that people charged with speech-related offences are almost twice as likely to be found not guilty in a Crown Court with a jury than in a magistrates’ court without one.
Put simply, if Lammy’s reforms pass, more people could be banged up for exercising their right to free speech.
✍️ Sign the FSU’s petition calling on the Government to guarantee our right to trial by jury 👇

I recently spoke to @thenerve_news about reports that the Government has spent or agreed to spent at least £992m with Palantir.
It’s becoming increasingly clear the British state is in the early stages of addiction to Palantir and all it represents.
We now have a chance to chart a new and better course away from Palantir. We should take it quickly, with both hands.

I have absolutely no sympathy with Scottish Government civil servants complaining about parliamentary questions.
They work for a government that has turned withholding information into an art form.
Getting a straight answer from SNP ministers is like pulling teeth. Perhaps if they answered properly in the first place, MSPs wouldn't have to keep digging.
The suggestion that our questions are AI-generated is insulting. Mine come from real people, real concerns and a determination to uncover the facts.
Officials who contribute to this culture of SNP secrecy are part of the problem.
Ministers should tackle their own excessive internal bureaucracy and resolve the ongoing dispute about civil servants returning to the office.
MSPs are elected to hold the government to account. Civil servants are employed to serve the public.
I won't apologise for asking difficult questions. I won't stop until I get proper answers.

For the last 14 years I listened to people calling me guilty. For the last year I listened to people saying I was not exonerated and we won on a technicality. Well Friday changed that. The case in law we were subjected to was so egregious it could not even withstand a guilty plea
