Robotics has a distribution problem. Today, Ultra is announcing $62M in funding to solve it, including a $50M Series A led by @hiFramework.
We believe that deployment is the bottleneck in robotics.
It’s relatively easy to make a robot look impressive in a controlled harder to put a robot into the open world, make it useful, keep it running, earn the trust of the people working alongside it, and do that over and over and over again.
So that’s what we’re focusing on.

Congrats to the @physical_int team on the Pi API beta! We’re proud to be one of their first partners, putting these models to work on real warehouse floors every day.
Announcing the beta release of the Pi API. We’ve partnered with companies across diverse industries to adapt our models to their robots and applications, from harvesting strawberries to assembling servers. Now we’re opening access to more teams.

Renting robots at $1-10 an hour instead of selling them is the obvious sales and revenue maximization strategy
Client can say “we’re paying humans $30 all in for this work and they make mistakes, sue us and quit — paying $10 an hour makes this ‘set it and forget it’ for the company”
This value proposition is going to be so compelling it will race through all physical human labor like a wildfire over of the next decade.”
The idea that human will work in a factory, drive a car or do construction will seem unfathomable in 20 years.
Will be as hard to imagine as taking a steamer to cross the Atlantic Ocean for six days instead of taking a flight for six hours.
That’s 35m jobs, or 1 in 5 working Americans who will have their jobs retired over the next two decades.
That’s a lot of jobs to replace, but we will figure it out

JUST IN: Ultra raised $50M to rent AI robots to warehouses instead of selling them.
Its robots pack, sort, and prepare orders while warehouses pay a monthly fee to use them.
-500K+ orders packed
-$62M raised to date
-Can work up to 24 hours a day
-Installed and working within hysical_int
It feels like robotics is starting to look a lot more like cloud computing.

Excited to see our partners at @Ultraroboticsco announce their $50M Series A! Ultra is a great example of what's becoming possible when general-purpose robot foundation models meet real-world deployments!

Congrats to @Ultraroboticsco on the raise! 🚀
Ultra and Pi have been working together to bring our models into real warehouses. We've gone from training ~1 policy per week to 8+, and improved autonomous performance from ~60% to ~95%.
Really cool to see how quickly things can improve when you're iterating on models with real-world robot data.

Congratulations to the @Ultraroboticsco teams on their Series A! Proud seed investor here.
What they've accomplished in just a short period of time is absolutely incredible.
If you're a 3PL or operating warehouses get in touch with them. Their units generate immediate ROI.

We just led a $50M Series A for Ultra (@Ultraroboticsco), bringing its total raised to $62M. Very excited to partner with @JonMSchwartz and the rest of the team!
In under a year, Ultra has deployed AI-native robots across 9 states that have packed 500k+ real orders for paying ltra is also partnering with @physical_int.

Most robot startups, even well funded ones, are still doing R&D. Ultra's shipping. Their robots are out there in the field doing necessary work every day.

"It's not a replacement. It's a new coworker." - Charlie Lockwood, Head of Engineering at Highline Commerce, describing what changed once OP1 was on their floor.
His team gets to focus on the work that needs a human touch, OP1 takes on the repetitive, high-volume tasks.

One of the most asked questions we get is why we didn’t make OP1 a mobile robot.
OP1 is stationary, yet it can move around an entire work cell, grab things off the floor, and reach up to 10 feet high.
Being stationary also means it can plug into the wall, and run continuously, harge a battery, and without the risk of tipping over.
So many tasks in the world are stationary, so we made a robot that's meant to do them better.
