Yesterday, DSRSG Political @stephaniekoury1 met in Misratah with municipal council leaders to exchange views on ongoing efforts to advance a Libyan-led and Libyan-owned political process. Discussions highlighted the important role of municipalities in reflecting the priorities ties across Libya, and the need to ensure meaningful representation for all regions in the political process.

Yesterday in Misrata I observed 50 youth from across Libya taking part in a three-day model UN organised by the @UNinLibya and the Debate and Dialogue Association to mark #UNDay. Across three different scenarios - a UN Security Council, a UN General Assembly and an ECOSOC, youth fferent positions, as well as listened to and critically analysed, opposing views to eventually find compromise and a way forward. Those skills are crucial to peacebuilding.

As I said to the participants yesterday, Libya's own experience has demonstrated how consensus building can be challenging and how indispensable dialogue and compromise are to achieving sustainable political solutions. 

The United Nations is here to support these efforts and facilitate dialogue and inclusion. Libya's future will ultimately be shaped by its youth, and as they continue to use these skills, the country will be in good hands.

For 81 years, the United Nations has worked to bring countries together to advance peace, development and human rights.

As the world faces growing challenges, global cooperation remains essential to building a better future for all.
