This week, UNAPD and Katalemwa Cheshire Home brought together BEN-MAPP implementing partners from Northern, Central and Eastern Uganda for a two-day meeting to reflect on 2026 and plan for 2027.

@KCHuganda @lilianefondsng @adphauganda The meeting concluded with partners reviewing their individual 2027 plans and aligning activities through joint network-work planning.

The goal? Stronger coordination, better collaboration and more responsive, inclusive programming.

@KCHuganda @lilianefondsng @adphauganda Partners reviewed implementation progress, shared lessons, examined the financial report and witnessed the launch of the BEN-MAPP Steering Committee.

Discussions also covered child safeguarding, menstrual hygiene, advocacy, SGBV and strengthening inclusion across programmes.

UNAPD is at the National Youth Disability Summit in Namugongo, Kyoto, running from 19–24, alongside SHAU and other partners.
Held in commemoration of World Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus Day, the summit explores the theme: “A Lifetime of Experiences: From Preconception to Ageing”

@SpinaBifidaAssn @NUDIPU @TheNCPDZA Disability inclusion must span the life course; from health information and early intervention to education, employment, family life, and ageing with dignity.

At every stage, barriers must be identified and addressed so persons with disabilities can participate fully.

Mental health matters beyond a single day!
For persons with psychosocial disabilities, stigma and barriers to mental health services do not disappear when World Mental Health Day ends.

Challenging stigma and advancing inclusion must be everyday commitments.

A white cane helps identify obstacles, but it cannot remove them.

A parked car and blocking the sidewalk, a roadside stall blocking the path, or an open drain can turn an ordinary journey into an unsafe one for someone who is blind or partially sighted.

What makes a school truly inclusive? 👀

Today in Gulu, BEN partners are conducting a School Performance Appraisal at Laroo Primary School, bringing together learners with and without disabilities, parents and School Management Committee members.

We must also ask:
Are learners included?
Are their needs being addressed?
Can every learner participate and learn?

That is the conversation happening at Laroo Primary School today.

Quality education must also be inclusive education.
