Thank you, President Trump for bringing together the Oligarchs who run our country. While working families struggle to survive due to your disastrous policies, they are now worth over $1.7 trillion, including:

Elon Musk: $920 billion
Jeff Bezos: $368 billion
Mark Zuckerberg: ng: $200 billion

Obscene.

@BernieSanders Each of the 4 people you call “oligarchs” founded and spent decades building companies in highly competitive markets, and those companies created trillions of dollars of value. We should celebrate these people and their accomplishments.

@TimSweeneyEpic @BernieSanders oligarchy is oligarchy, regardless of it’s benevolent or not. the point is it ignores the will of the demos.

@TimSweeneyEpice@BernieSandershan just 4 people. You are missing Bernie's point. There is a lot of income inequality in the country. This is a bad thing for everyone especially people at the top. AI maximalists don't realize they are going to make the problem worse. And then we will have Butlerian Jihad

@TimSweeneyEpic @BernieSanders “Created trillions of dollars of value” they are anti-worker, anti-union, anti-people.
Oil and railroad robber barons made museums, libraries, etc is because they were hated and wanted people to like them. These oligarchs have no interest in civic or moral duty.

@TimSweeneyEpic @BernieSanders Tim, I think you're missing Bernie's point. Their business success isn't the problem; their pay-for-play political tampering is.

Accomplishments should not make one blind to everything else.

@TimSweeneyEpicn@BernieSandersut anti-corruption in politics. Now he just seems anti rich. Not that there shouldn’t be a debate and continued assessment of how we spread the wealth/UBI. I believe some form of this is required within the next 10 years(maybe even 2-3 years) as jobs get decimated by AI/automation.

Disappointing sentiment.

I generally dig Tim's takes and consider him one of the better billionaires, but this is a terrible take. To Tim, and some of the folks in the comments feasting on corporate oligarch boot-leather, please consider this:

1) They are literally oligarchs. Musk spent $290 million on the 2024 election then ran DOGE (which will likely kill millions). Musk directly converted money into political power - a literal oligarch. Similar for the rest.

2) Value? What value? Most of it is just stock valuation which is meaningless to the most of the populace. Furthermore, those 4 people did not create that "value" alone, and certainly did not share the spoils in proportion to work done or value generated.

3) What "highly competitive markets"? They destroy competition everywhere they go while establishing monopolistic power to the detriment of consumers and workers. But for their abuses, we would have had more companies that created even MORE value, jobs, and innovation in a competitive landscape that would have been tremendously better for everyone on the planet.

3a) Tim, you spent years arguing Apple and Google abused monopoly power over Epic. You are and were 100% right. You know firsthand what dominant platforms do to competitors.

4) Taxes: Bezos has paid a "true tax rate" of about 1% and Musk 3%. Pretty big problem. Those people could live the exact same life they do now while also paying ~90%+ of their wealth in taxes, contributing back to the country, infrastructure, and social structure that made every single dollar of their success possible in the first place.

5) The jobs these oligarchs provide are of tenuous value when you factor in their terrifying instability and woefully low pay compared to executive compensation and stock buybacks.

In fact they love it when they automate away human labor. This entire game is about accumulating capital at the expense of labor.

With AI coming after cognitive work lot of service oriented jobs will be destroyed just like the manfuacturing jobs of the past.

None of these would be nearly as successful if they distributed their wealth just a little more fairly to the working class allowing their to companies run.
