What is happening to Dr Beth Upton looks increasingly like a politically motivated witch hunt. The tribunal dismissed the claims against her, yet campaigners continue to pursue her. This has gone far beyond a workplace dispute. She has become a target.
Dr Upton left the NHS and moved to Australia, yet the campaign followed her across the world, with demands for her professional deregistration. This is no longer about changing rooms or NHS policy. It looks like an attempt to hunt an individual to a disturbing conclusion.
They will hound her to the ends of the earth because the aim is total destruction and humiliation for an innocent person who just happened to be transgender and targeted by people with media and political connections.

Every free speech union case is just somebody that said some dumb shit and then got celebrated for it in Toby Youngs clown show, rather than being told to shut the fuck up like they should’ve been a long time ago. There is nothing of value in the speech of Janet. Is the same shit as Harry Miller and Graham Linehan. People that just uttered meaningless garbage and hope that somebody will thank them for it.

Janet Murray is a journalist and founder of the Singing performs at running events and helps runners raise money for good causes.
For the past two years, the choir had been part of Scope’s “cheer squad” without incident. But a few days before this year’s marathon, Scope dropped the choir after receiving two anonymous complaints about Janet’s public expression of her gender-critical views.
Gender-critical beliefs are protected under the Equality Act 2010. They are lawful and were reaffirmed by last year’s landmark Supreme Court ruling, which confirmed that “sex” refers to biological sex. Janet is clear that these are her personal views; she does not know what the other choir members thought.
Janet tried to resolve the matter privately with Scope before informing her fellow choir members.
After the Free Speech Union intervened, Scope reinstated the choir — but only the night before the marathon. Janet put together a small group at short notice, which performed elsewhere along the route, separately from Scope.
Scope has now apologised and publicly acknowledged that its decision was wrong. But the ordeal caused considerable upset to Janet and the choir, who did not deserve to be treated this way.
Women should be able to speak freely about their sex-based rights without being punished for doing so.
Janet said that when she first joined the Free Speech Union, she never thought she would need us. She’s grateful she did.

Because transgender people have a unique outlying experience, there is an interest in it because it’s something that tells us something about the human condition..
Transgender people have been somewhere psychologically /neurologically /endocrinologicaly, that not many people will go to. For the average person, it’s like a distant signal from another planet. Like ripping a hole in the space time continuum of normalcy.

I can understand why they might say this because self determinism and the sovereign individuality is something transgender people strive for but it’s also rooted in the neoliberal concept of the individual above all else . It’s something Ayn Rand would be familiar with.
But I prefer Erving Goffman‘s analysis. We may be individuals but we build ourselves from what is available to us in the world. We see ourselves in the world of ‘others’. We affirm and deny the things we reject or welcome . We both transmit and receive our identities from the world.
