The Toronto Police Association is once again deeply concerned by the latest alleged assault of one of our @ParkingTPS Enforcement Officers. Incidents like this are disgusting and completely unacceptable.
During the interaction, a PEO completed a parking violation notice and was then followed by the accused, who later exited his vehicle, assaulted the PEO and stole the handheld ticket machine. The suspect was subsequently arrested and charged.
We wholeheartedly condemn all acts of violence against public servants performing their lawful duties. Those who violate the law can expect it to be enforced. Our support remains with the affected member.

The Toronto Police Association is pleased to learn that cop killer Craig Munro will remain in custody following today’s hearing at the Parole Board of Canada.
While we are encouraged that this serious and violent offender will remain incarcerated, we cannot stress further that the work is far from over.
The family of PC Michael Sweet was, once again, forced to travel across the country and read powerful impact statements. Victims and their families should not be repeatedly forced to relive traumatic events every time a convicted felon believes they should be released.
We will continue working with Minister of Public Safety @gary_srp, Secretary of State @rubysahotalib, and Minister of Justice @SeanFraserMP to advance our recommendations. This includes delaying parole eligibility to 35 years rather than 25 and holding hearings every five years rather than every two.
All Canadians deserve a system that values their perspectives and lived experiences.

What a significant accomplishment by our members at @TPS55Div! 👏
The scale of this arrest and the number of charges laid reflect months of tremendous investigative work. An incredible display of professionalism, persistence, and dedication from everyone involved.

Since October 13, we have been following the Inquest into the death of Regis Korchinski Paquet.
Yesterday, false claims were made against our members. We will not stand by and let their reputations, and the reputation of an entire profession, be tarnished by those seeking to rewrite history.
The claims made by Ms. Beals are not supported, in fact are contradicted, by the evidence. Over the next few days, counsel for our members and for the Toronto Police Association will vociferously cross examine Ms. Beals to ensure the truth is accurately reflected on the record.
To be clear, our members are not responsible for the death of Regis Korchinski Paquet.
Their actions have been reviewed multiple times by independent police oversight agencies, including the SIU, and they have consistently been cleared of any wrongdoing.
These facts must stand.

Welcome news! President @TPACampbell worked at 55 Division when it was misguidedly amalgamated with 54 Division. A decision made simply to save money during the years of austerity, resulting in poorer community service and forcing our members to work in dilapidated conditions. They and the Beaches-East York residents deserve better. Glad to see this investment in policing and public safety!
Olivia Chow promises to bring Toronto Police 54 Division back to East York. Chow says division was shut down in 2018, and residents want it back to address local crime. Chow says new 54 division would open in 2030
