This is what NGB leadership looks like! Thank you @ussoccer for advocating for the players and for the game of NCAA D1 Men’s Soccer! A must read for everyone @NCAASoccer and @NCAA , especially the D1 AD's lobbying against a student athlete first proposal.
A note from our COO Dan Helfrich about why U.S. Soccer believes the men's college soccer model should evolve and current modernization proposals should advance.

@ussoccer strongly supports the proposed new model for D1 men’s college soccer. Given ongoing debate, we wanted to share why this matters, how we engaged in the process, how feedback/concerns influenced the final model, and what happens next. Here’s to growing the game together.

Well said Bob!! 👏
The soccer proposal is not being portrayed accurately. Most importantly, the students want it.
The five spring contests are already in your budget: officials, trainers, turf, and travel. Rescinding the proposal doesn't save that money; it just means you spend it with nothing to show for it.
What the revised proposal actually requires is a minimum of three spring contests for postseason eligibility. Three. Not five, not ten. Schools are currently permitted five exhibition matches each spring, so three is fewer than programs already schedule.
Conferences can still hold their championships in the fall for the automatic bid. The only new pieces are a May national championship and one 15-day transfer window.
That's the whole trade: the same spring costs, with real upside. This is the accurate information. Rescinding the proposal makes no sense, either for the athletes or for the budget.

The schools that don’t sponsor men’s soccer need to worry about who and what they support, not men’s soccer.
Put the student-athletes first.
