This Memorial Day, John and I participated in the Murph Challenge. On Memorial Day, the Murph Challenge is in honor of LT Murphy and all our fallen soldiers, and consists of a 1-mile run, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 squats, and another 1-mile run.

LT Michael Murphy was a Navy SEAL who lost his life serving our country in Afghanistan in 2005 during Operation Red Wings. His story is told in the book and film Lone Survivor.

For the first time in Louisiana history, the Legislature will hold a Veto Override Session. According to Louisiana’s Constitution, it’s the Legislature’s right as a co-equal branch of government to override vetoed legislation that goes against the people’s will.

Consistent with your feedback, I intend to vote during the Override Session the same way I voted during the Regular Session—in favor of the Fairness in Women’s Sports Act and in support of our constitutional right to defend ourselves.

A new Mississippi River bridge is absolutely necessary for the state as a whole. That’s why we prioritized funding a new Mississippi River bridge this past session. We’re not done leading the fight for infrastructure. We’re just getting started.
