✅ On June 26, 2026, John Bolton pleaded GUILTY in federal court to willfully retaining national defense information under the Espionage Act. 👍🏻 on 18 counts in October 2025. His plea deal resolves all 18. 👍🏻 TRUE.
✅ He put TOP SECRET intel into his personal "diary" notes and sent it to two family members over personal email and a messaging app. Prosecutors said he shared more than 1,000 pages. 👍🏻 TRUE.
✅ His personal email was HACKED by a cyber actor tied to IRAN, and he never told the government that classified info was in that account. (IMHO, the most damning!) 👍🏻 TRUE.
✅ He agreed to pay a $2.25 MILLION fine and loses his federal retirement pay. 👍🏻 TRUE.
✅ On October 30, 2026, the DOJ asked the judge for the full 60 months in prison plus 3 years of supervised release. Prosecutors wrote that "the only conceivable explanation" for his conduct "is that he thought he was above the law" and that he did it "in pursuit of what would become a seven-figure book deal." 👍🏻 TRUE.
