Wow
Let’s make sure the entire world understands. In Brazil, judicial rulings in connection with federal elections are made by the court that has been in place for that very purpose, the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE).
@LulaOficial requested to the TSE that the polls be extended by two more hours in the entire country, citing “transportation problems.” Who controls the transport system? Lula’s government surely more so than a senator running for president.
Instead of waiting for a TSE ruling. @LulaOficial immediately asked Brazilian Supreme Court (STF) justice @Cristianozaninm to order the polls remain open WITHOUT any TSE ruling. Within minutes (did Zanin even read the filing?), the polls were ordered to remain open by Zanin.
The STF has 11 justices. What did Zanin do before becoming an STF justice? Oh yes, he was Lula’s criminal defense lawyer in his corruption cases.
If this blatant rigging of the elections will be used to announce that Lula won, is Lula seriously expecting anyone in the international community to recognize that as a free and fair election? He knows nobody will.
Has the desperation reached a point that today is the day the mask fully comes off and Lula becomes the next Nicolas Maduro? For the sake of Brazil, I pray that is not the case.

FIRST ROUND
The candidates who finished in:
3rd) Augusto Cury: 3,448,569 votes
4th) Renan Santos: 2,675,887 votes
5th) Ronaldo Caiado: 2,605,148 votes
6th) Romeu Zema: 326,488 votes
TOTAL: 9,056,092 votes
SECOND ROUND
Lula received 10,376,694 more votes than he did in the f he had secured every single vote cast for these candidates, none of whom are left-wing, plus another 1,320,602 votes, becoming the most popular president in Brazil’s entire history.
THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE. UNACCEPTABLE!
Especially since the vote counting was halted for two hours.

Zanin, Lula’s former personal lawyer, appointed by Lula to Supreme Court Justice made that decision anyway x.com/Jakelyneloiola…

First Round
Abstentions: 33.5 million (21%)
Blank votes: 2.3 million (2%)
Invalid votes: 3.7 million (3%)
Voter turnout: 125.3 million (79%)
Other candidates: 9.5 million (8%)
Second Round
Abstentions: 30.4 million (21%)
Blank votes: 1.4 million (1%)
Invalid votes: 2.7 million (2%)
Voter turnout: 128.1 million (81%)
Lula: 64.1 million (51.8%)
Flávio: 59.7 million (48.2%)
Between abstentions, blank votes, and invalid votes, they somehow found 5 million additional votes.
Add that to the 9.5 million votes cast for other candidates in the first round, and you have a pool of approximately 14 million new votes.
Flávio gained 4 million votes, going from 56 million to 60 million.
Lula gained 10 million votes, going from 54 million to 64 million.
All figures are rounded.
Of this pool of 14 million votes, Flávio received 29%, while Lula received 71%.
And this happened despite the fact that 10 million of those 14 million votes came from voters who had supported other candidates with more right-leaning political profiles.
The whole thing is so extraordinary that it is extremely difficult to believe.
It’s as if, in just three weeks, voters who had signaled a turn to the right suddenly made a sharp turn to the left.
It’s hard not to think about those two extra hours.

If a conservative government in Brazil did this, everyone in the mainstream press in America would lose their minds, but I guess they’re just choosing to be silent because it’s all for the cause.

This is indeed terrible optics for the left, and the right is attacking this detail hard.
The Brazilian left argues this judge only acted because the chief of the electoral court — who was appointed by Bolsonaro — did not, despite many voters’ problems getting to the polls.
Lula has said those problems stem from right-wing officials systematically taking public buses out of circulation on Election Day.
Meantime, tallying so far shows a very close race.
