Lubna Speitan, author of the Greens4Palestine motion “Zionism is racism”, spells out the central obscenity of our age – the grotesque inversion whereby the victims of ethnic cleansing, Apartheid and genocide must constantly fend off accusations from their tormentors the racists.

“We as Palestinians are being silenced and gaslit and vilified [as we] witness the annihilation, the cold-blooded murder of our families, of our people… our children burnt with phosphorus, having to endure amputations with no anaesthetic, having their limbs torn and shredded, their bodies burnt by phosphorus, being starved to death … And to have to sit here … and try to bury my feelings so I can eloquently and diplomatically shield my anger, my rage, my anguish that every Palestinian is feeling, is an insult.” /1

This morning's Greens4Palestine press conference redressed the balance. Well worth listening to in full.

"For me as a Palestinian, Zionism is racism. Zionism is genocidal. Zionism is sociopathic. Zionism is all about ethnic cleansing for a group of people at the expense of another. If I were not Palestinian, if I just happened to be a Jewish person, I would have lived with all my would have questioned me, no one would have come after my land, my country, to kill us. So if that is not racism, then what is? Ever since I came to the UK, I've been hearing some bizarre ideas: 'Zionism means different things to different people'. Zionism means only one thing. And it means one thing to the people that it was manifested at. Zionism means genocide and death."

@yuval_abraham One sour note. The Q&A at the end was chaired by Guardian Editor @KathViner. Few publications have done more to demonise and delegitimise the Palestinian struggle over the last decade. Didn’t seem to have occurred to anyone to include a Palestinian on the panel.

Caroline Lucas is calling for Lubna Speitan, author of the Zionism is racism motion, to be suspended from the Greens.

Lubna is a Palestinian who has lost dozens of family members in the genocide. Her motion simply expresses what the vast majority of Palestinians believe.

A US es her as a "friend" of a convicted terrorist. She provided a character reference for a clearly very vulnerable individual who was about to disappear into the American prison system for decades on the basis of questionable evidence.

She did this because she is a decent human being who doesn't believe in throwing people under the bus - an instinct clearly entirely alien to Caroline Lucas.

The Times has this morning published a rather limp attempt to smear the Green campaign in Holborn and St Pancras and specifically @pauleholden - author of The Fraud - and @andrewfeinstein - the former independent candidate there.

I'd like point out that Izzy Lenga - a Camden a 2 month military training course in Israel, whose close relationship with the Labour candidate Paul and Andrew are criticised for highlighting  - featured in Al Jazeera's Labour Files. She'd allowed herself to be the vehicle for entirely unfounded smears in the BBC's "infamous" 2019 Panorama about antisemitism in the Labour Party.

The BBC later acknowledged the story was untrue and that Lenga was actually referring to the far right. Her comments "got mixed up in the edit", they said.

Lenga herself made no attempt to correct the record./1
