Very impressive work!
Excited to share our new work from @GoogleDeepMind @GoogleResearch @GoogleForHealth. We trained LLMs for psychiatric intake using multi-turn RL with simulated patients. Amazing work led by @SRSchmidgall and leadership from @valentinlievin, Isaac Galatzer-Levy and David Racz. Incredibly proud to be a co-author on this study!👇

Computer turned a shoulder MRI report into an interactive 3D explainer a patient can read.
From one anonymized radiology report, it placed all nine findings on a skeletal model, with six X-ray projections and a plain-language explanation of each.

Exciting developments from @AbridgeHQ
got an early look at the @AbridgeHQ assistant last week
excited to try this product in medical genetics, where there's no shortage of complex, multi-party workflows:
- phenotyping a patient comprehensively (chart biopsy)
- ordering molecular testing (identifying the correct lab based on the desired test, quality/coverage, turn-around time)
- navigating payment (institutional vs. patient pay), including requesting hospital committee approvals
- chasing down results, and interpreting in real-time patient clinical and research contexts

A new chapter in peptide medicine has just begun.
The US just made certain peptides (legally) accessible through compounding pharmacies.
The new HHS policy says:
- 6 peptides: BPC-157, TB-500, Epitalon, KPV, MOTS-c and Semax
- HHS does not intend to take enforcement action d pharmacy, Federal facility, or licensed physician compounding them
- the goal is to expand and improve patient access
- FDA's future rulemakings may propose adding some or all of these peptides to the 503A bulks list
We're talking about peptides like BPC-157 which has mostly been available through RUO channels.
Now 503A pharmacies can compound it for individuals with a prescription.
The idea is to allow pharmacies to compound certain peptides while the FDA figures out long-term rules.
This process could take a year or more.
But this is a meaningful step forward.

A new injectable gel can rebuild worn-out spinal discs instead of just masking the pain.
Doctors working with US company ReGelTec are testing an injectable gel called Hydrafil for people whose spinal discs have worn down with age.
The discs are the cushions between your dry out and flatten, they can cause years of back pain. Hydrafil is injected through a needle as a warm liquid, then firms up at body temperature into a water-rich, rubbery cushion that refills the damaged disc and restores its height.
In a study of 60 patients, average back pain scores fell from 7.3 to 2.1 out of 10 after a year, and disability scores dropped sharply too.
Today, most treatments for worn discs manage symptoms with painkillers, injections or physical therapy, and the last resort is surgery to fuse or replace the disc. A gel that rebuilds the cushion itself could offer something in between.
The early study had no comparison group, and five patients needed a procedure to remove gel that had shifted. A larger trial against a placebo procedure is underway, and the FDA has granted it Breakthrough Device status to speed its review.
