Really excited to have our story on a CYP17A1-independent androgen biosynthesis pathway out today! We think this could be a reason for why androgens are left with abiraterone tx in prostate cancer. @dsui_miami_uro @SylvesterCancer @PCFnews @ASCO @AACR rdcu.be/eS7kU

Going to mention this finding to all my low T consults who want to “optimize” their levels for “wellness” and “longevity”
If they dared, biohacking bros who seek to defy aging could try a simple, time-tested method: castration.

Removing the testicles extends male life span across many mammalian species, including humans. But a research team exploring this effect has now found the surgical procedure ormed early in life to boost longevity, as scientists had assumed.

In a new preprint, the group reports that neutering older male mice lengthens their lives by more than 30%, upending prevailing ideas of how the testes influence aging.

Thrilled to share updated results from JNJ-6143, the AR-BRD4 RIPTAC therapy, presented by @BGarmezy. Totally novel MOA was well tolerated, oral pill and produced significant benefit for pts (PSA90 50%, ORR 68%). P2 trial active now and more coming. Lots of potential!

How many scientists study #ProstateCancer because of Howard Soule?

How many collaborations originated with an intro from Howard?

How many lives have been touched by this wonderful man?

Thank you, Howard!

Replying to @nc_frey
@nc_frey Finding candidates is relatively straightforward, with or without Claude. Extensive experimental validation and rigorous peer review are the hard parts. For context, see Fanzor, Cas13an, and our TM184C work:

I’d do it all again and would encourage anyone interested! There’s no shortage of med school applications. It is still a noble profession
To whom it may concern,

63% physicians do not want their children to pursue a career in medicine.

This number is even higher among younger physicians.

Medicine is no longer the noble profession it once was.

Corporate greed poses an existential threat to the practice of medicine.

Out online today in @Nature. The known protein universe holds hundreds of millions of members, yet most remain unexplored, a vast biological darkness that may hold important clues to human health and disease. We went looking in it.

New study with our amazing partners showing calorie restriction reduces aging associated mutation accumulation in mice is out in @CellCellPress.

While lots of interventions increase mutations, here we show CR can actually slow normal aging-associated mutations genome-wide!

Remarkable linkage between diet, genomic integrity, and lifespan.

Interestingly, benefits were not uniformly distributed across the genome.
