Today we're rolling out access to Gemini 4 Argon, our latest frontier model built to solve your hardest problems.
Starting today, it’s available globally for Google AI Ultra and Pro subscribers in @GeminiApp and AI Mode in Search, Ultra subscribers in @antigravity, and for ses via the API in @GoogleAIStudio and the Gemini platform.
At @Google, Argon is already accelerating progress across engineering and robotics:
💻 @GoogleChrome: Argon helped the Chrome team refactor a Chromium 6-million-line legacy codebase, completing months of work in just weeks. For Chrome’s billions of global users, this eliminated an entire category of browser crashes, unlocking the ability for live webpages to move fluidly between tabs, side panels, and floating windows without reloading.
🚀 Software engineering: Googlers are using Argon to ship code faster than ever. In @Antigravity, they increased agentic code submissions by over 35% with rollbacks cut by nearly a third.
🤖 Robotics at @GoogleDeepMind: By watching video of a human playing cornhole, Argon autonomously built simulation code that taught it how to play, and helped Apptronik's Apollo humanoid sink seven straight shots.

Gemini 4 Argon is already helping researchers unlock new scientific breakthroughs across fusion, biology, and quantum computing:
⚛️ In nuclear fusion, Argon helped discover a broader class of counterexamples to Grad's conjecture — a nearly 60-year-old assumption in plasma benchmarks for stellarator 3D magnetic fields.
🧬 In biology, it designed five novel, lab-verified serine esterases in a matter of hours — enzyme engineering that would previously have taken months. This work demonstrates the potential for rapid acceleration in fields such as biomanufacturing, green chemistry, and drug development.
🩺 In rare disease research, scientists at @GamowLabs used Argon to analyze de-identified genomes from newborns with rare developmental lung disorders — pinpointing a chromosomal rearrangement that routine software missed for years, and explaining why it went undetected.
🧮 In quantum computing, Argon translated our AlphaQubit error-correction decoder into a single optimized hardware kernel — nearly doubling inference throughput — and cut spacetime costs for a key quantum subroutine by more than 100x.

"In some ways I view 2027 as a golden age of productivity." — @sundarpichai on the new Sources Podcast with @alexeheath. Check out the full episode, where they discuss Gemini 4 Argon, and Google's infrastructure scaling and long-term bets. ⬇️
Sundar Pichai on Gemini 4 and the AI compute crunch
Even Google can’t get enough compute. I sit down with Google and Alphabet CEO @sundarpichai shortly after the wider release of Gemini 4 Argon to discuss its early reception, where he still wants the model to improve, and what at the frontier of AI.
Pichai explains the recent leadership shakeup at Google DeepMind and why building frontier models has become an “all-consuming” job. We also get into Google’s answer to the personal agent race, how he predicts Gemini will do more work on your behalf, and whether agents will finally bring Search, Gmail, and Gemini together.
I ask him about Google turning free cash flow negative, the risks in the AI infrastructure buildout, and how he plans for demand years before knowing what the models will be capable of. He explains the signals giving him confidence to keep spending and how he uses AI agents to follow model development and compute usage inside Google.

Over the past year, the Discovery team at @GoogleDeepMind, in a project led by student researcher @dsantosmarco, has made new discoveries in one of the most beautiful open problems at the edge of computation: Finding the 6th Busy Beaver (BB) number.
While most AI math systems roblems, like theorems, this work tackles a different aspect of mathematical creativity: Discovering hidden problems.
For years, the BB Community has pursued one of theoretical computer science’s most captivating collaborative quests: finding the simplest programs that run the longest before halting. Because determining whether these programs ever stop is uncomputable, no universal algorithm can solve it, meaning new mathematical techniques need to be found and invented to make progress.
In this way, the BB challenge serves as an open ended domain for mathematical creativity and, in particular, a generator of hard math problems called Cryptids. These are tiny programs whose halting behavior is governed by and equivalent to deep, unsolved math problems in number theory, similar to the Collatz or Goldbach conjectures. Historically, the BB community had recognized ~20 Cryptids in BB(6), and the best problems were selected for the Busy Math Olympiad (BMO).
Building on their work, Marco built a pipeline powered by Gemini 4 Argon that:
1️⃣ Simulates raw Turing machine traces to compress recurring patterns.
2️⃣ Conjectures mathematical transition rules & runs synthetic experiments to test edge cases.
3️⃣ Proves the equivalence formally in Lean 4. Using this pipeline, Marco and the team discovered 20 new potential Cryptids and verified 33 more machines previously studied in the BB community. All the proofs were open sourced and shared in the community discord channel and we hope that they will help the community to make progress towards resolving BB(6). We also contributed related halting/non-halting proofs directly to the community GitHub repository.
Finding these Cryptids shows hidden links between simple programs and number theory, and helps mathematicians map the limits of computation. I'm also excited about Gemini 4 Argon's ability to help researchers both solve hard problems and accelerate scientific discoveries, of which Busy Beaver is just one example.
Work led by our student researcher @dsantosmarco with paper contributions from @vivek_veeriah, @Dahoas1 , Andrew Bolt, @zuza777 , Satinder Singh, and myself with additional contributions from Hussain Masoom, @maxencefaldor , @MoritzFirsching and Petar Sirkovic.

Today at the Google Cloud Public Sector Summit, we announced Gemini for government services, a purpose-built industry solution built around five core architectural components:
✔️Skills for Government Work: Reusable instructions and context, written by domain experts, that teach tasks while directly applying governing statutes and agency standard operating procedures.
✔️Open Access to Systems: Secure connectors link Gemini directly to core agency databases and applications—including @salesforce, @Oracle, and @ServiceNow—as well as authoritative federal sources like the Federal Register and eCFR.
✔️Partner Agent Integrations: Built-in capabilities from public sector software providers that agencies can deploy right away to handle complex operations like public records discovery and batch redaction under a central control plane.
✔️Governed Control Plane: A single, secure environment for compliance teams to set and enforce strict policies using VPC Service Controls, CMEK, and Assured Workloads.
✔️Model Choice Flexibility: It orchestrates across multiple models to deliver optimal quality and lower agency costs—routing high-volume document parsing and routine records sweeps to fast, low-cost models, while reserving high-reasoning models for complex policy analysis.
