Two Senate candidates running as independents have ties to Renew American Democracy, the project ran by ex-USAID workers to restructure d one of them admits on video they've been "coordinating."
According to the polls, "independent" Dan Osborn is in a toss-up race with Ricketts in Nebraska.
Emerson has South Dakota "independent" Brian Bengs within single digits of Mike Rounds.
The strategy is to elect enough independents to deny either party a governing majority—and use their votes as leverage for structural reforms.
Osborn's 2024 field director, Austen Campbell, laid out the plan:
"We have a goal for 2026 to run a slate of independents and deny both political parties the majority in the House of Representatives in hopes of getting an independent speaker."
Bengs said echoed that on a September 2026 Renew to Thrive call:
"We don't need to get 50 or 51 to change things. We just need a handful."
In their words, this handful is to do "arm-twisting" to get the structural reforms they want.

The draft calls that the MODERATE strategy.
And the political objective extends beyond reforming elections.
In 2023, Walt Roberts told the man who now runs the Independent National Convention that stopping the MAGA GOP was "job one."
As for ending the two-party duopoly?
"That's very secondary right now."
Put those statements together.
A plan to deny both parties a majority. Candidates running as independents. A small voting bloc positioned to extract concessions. A documented list of proposed constitutional and electoral changes. And a stated priority of stopping the MAGA GOP.
The question for Nebraska and South Dakota voters is whether they know what these candidates' political allies have been planning... and whether Osborn and Bengs share those objectives.

This has turned into kind of a weird election. And this is just based on social media, not any reporting. But based on vibes from Republicans, you'd expect Democrats to end up with 55 Senate seats. But based on the vibes from Democrats, you'd expect 50.500001.

I am seeing some analysts drawing comparisons with 2020 and 2018 to support an argument for Talarico. Those comparisons are skewed given 1M ineligible voters were purged from Texas voter rolls between 2021 and August 2024 - I bet a stack of illegal votes were propping up D tallies in 2020 and prior years.

Across the counties in the two screenshots:
• Harris-won counties: +829k early votes. Applying each county’s 2024 margin gives a net of roughly +122k Democratic.
• Trump-won counties: +877k early votes. Applying each county’s 2024 margin gives a net of roughly +182k Republican.
Net result from the additional early votes in the tracked counties: ~+60k Republican.
So let’s complete the picture….
The five Harris-won counties missing from the blue screenshot (Presidio, Zavala, Brooks, Jim Hogg, Dimmit) are small rural/border counties that together cast only a few tens of thousands of votes in 2024. They don’t move the needle.
The other ~200 counties (almost all of them missing from the red screenshot) are the smaller, heavily Republican ones. They cast roughly 1.3–1.4 million votes in 2024…about 12% of the statewide total… and the large majority of them went for Trump by R+50 to R+90+!!!! That is a deep, reliable Republican floor.
Texas already went for Trump by 13.7 points (1.56 million votes) in 2024. Higher early turnout that is still netting Republican under 2024 county margins, plus the solid red rural base that isn’t fully captured in the screenshots, points to Texas looking even redder relative to that already-convincing win.
