Are plant roots really made up of concentric layers of homogeneous, differentiating cell types?
In our new study, out now in @Nature, we show a more complex picture: two distinct cell states within root lineages, shaped in part by the environment. 🧵👇

Bioengineering's gift to AI isn't another algorithm. It's more life-like cell cultures to learn from.
LigHTS, now out in Advanced Science, makes soft, microstructured hydrogels directly in standard 1536-well plates, every well in a single 16-min light exposure. 🧵

@Nature : why are you writing such misleading and wrong posts? Nobody thought there is only one cell, nobody thought all npcs are the same, so if you need that level of wrong to promote the paper, it's either nit novel enough or you have not understood what you are promoting. 👎
Many scientists have long thought that a single type of starter cell gives rise to the entire brain. But experiments now challenge that fundamental picture, providing evidence that it takes not one but two flavours of progenitor cell to make the complex organ.
