मुंबईसोबत महाराष्ट्र झाला, पण संयुक्त महाराष्ट्राचं स्वप्न अर्धवटच राहिलं. याची वेदना आमच्यासारख्या सीमाभागाशी नाळ जोडलेल्या माणसांपेक्षा अधिक कोणाला समजणार?
नशीब चांगलं म्हणून आमचा भाग महाराष्ट्रात आला; पण सगळ्यांचंच नशीब आमच्यासारखं नव्हतं. माझं आजोळ, मावशी, मामा, भाऊ आणि अनेक नातेवाईक आजही कर्नाटकात राहतात.
लहानपणी या गोष्टींची जाणीव नव्हती. एकच भाषा बोलणारी, एकाच संस्कृतीत वाढलेली, सारखेच सण-उत्सव साजरे करणारी, एकाच कुलदैवताला मानणारी माणसं दोन वेगवेगळ्या राज्यांत का राहतात, हा प्रश्न तेव्हा पडतही नव्हता.
सुट्ट्यांमध्ये गावी जाताना सीमा ओलांडली की घड्याळात वेळ तपासायचो. दुसऱ्या देशात वेळ वेगळी असते, असं ऐकलं होतं. आपणही आता सीमा ओलांडून दुसऱ्या ठिकाणी जातोय, तर कदाचित घड्याळातली वेळ बदलेल, अशी बालमनाची समजूत होती.
काळ पुढे गेला. लहानपण संपलं. राज्यांच्या सीमा, संयुक्त महाराष्ट्राचा इतिहास आणि आपल्या मातीची ताटातूट समजू लागली. ज्या प्रदेशात लहानपणी जायचो, तोही आपल्या भाषेचा, संस्कृतीचा आणि माणसांचा प्रदेश होता, हे उमगलं.
पण आजही त्या सीमारेषा तिथेच आहेत. लहानपणी ज्या घड्याळात वेळ बदलण्याची अपेक्षा होती, ती वेळ आजही तशीच आहे. फक्त आता घड्याळाकडे पाहताना बालपणीची उत्सुकता नसते, तर अपूर्ण राहिलेल्या संयुक्त महाराष्ट्राची जाणीव असते.
लहानपणी वाटायचं, सीमा ओलांडली की वेळ बदलेल; मोठेपणी समजलं की बदलायला हवी होती ती घड्याळातली वेळ नव्हे, तर आमच्या माणसांना विभागणारी सीमारेषा!
आजही त्या गावात गेल्यावर मला परकेपणा जाणवत नाही. तिथली माणसं माझीच आहेत, त्यांची भाषा माझीच आहे, त्यांची संस्कृती माझीच आहे. फरक एवढाच की सरकारी नकाशावर आम्ही वेगवेगळ्या राज्यांचे नागरिक आहोत.
आम्ही महाराष्ट्रात आहोत, याचं समाधान नक्कीच आहे. पण आमच्यासारखाच सांस्कृतिक वारसा असलेली कित्येक माणसं आजही सीमापलीकडे राहतात, याची खंतही आहे.
काय माहिती, ही प्रतीक्षा कधी संपेल? कधी हा अंधार दूर होईल आणि संयुक्त महाराष्ट्राचं स्वप्न पूर्ण होईल?
आम्हाला कोणाबद्दल द्वेष नाही, कोणाशी वैर नाही. आमची मागणी केवळ राजकीय नकाशापुरती नाही; ती आमच्या भाषा, संस्कृती, इतिहास आणि अस्मितेशी जोडलेली आहे.
कारण संयुक्त महाराष्ट्र आमच्यासाठी केवळ इतिहासातील एक आंदोलन नाही, तर आजही दोन राज्यांत विभागल्या गेलेल्या आमच्या कुटुंबांना आणि माणसांना जोडणारं एक अपूर्ण स्वप्न आहे.

खूप वर्षांनी मावस भावाच्या लग्नासाठी त्याच्या गावी गेलो कर्नाटकात.
लहानपणी यायचो तेव्हा जग फार छोटं होतं. गाव म्हणजे खेळ, माणसं म्हणजे आपलेपण, आणि भाषा म्हणजे फक्त बोलणं.
तेव्हा सीमारेषा कळत नव्हत्या. राज्य म्हणजे काय, राजकारण म्हणजे काय काहीच माहिती नव्हतं.
पूर्ण गावभर फिरायचो. ्येक दारात आपलेपण. तेव्हा कोण कर्नाटकाचा, कोण महाराष्ट्राचा असा प्रश्नच नव्हता.
आता मोठा झालो. बाहेरचं जग पाहिलं. बातम्या ऐकल्या. सीमा वाद, भाषेचे प्रश्न, राजकीय आरोळ्या… मनात एक वेगळीच प्रतिमा तयार झाली होती.
पण लग्नाचं निमंत्रण द्यायला सगळ्यांच्या घरी गेलो, आणि एक गोष्ट प्रकर्षाने जाणवली ती म्हणजे मला क्षणभरही वाटलं नाही की मी कर्नाटकात आहे.
सगळेच मराठी बोलत होते. तोच गोडवा, तीच आपुलकी होती जी मला माझ्या गावी महाराष्ट्रात भेटायची.
भाषा कागदावर विभागली जाते, मनात नाही.
लग्नाच्या दुसऱ्या दिवशी घराबाहेर शांत बसलो होतो. घरासमोरच महाराजांचं स्मारक होतं.
तेंव्हा तिथं विचारात गुंग झालो होतो आणि कानात गाणं वाजत होतं..
“माझी मैना गावाकडे राहिली…”
लहानपणी हे गाणं फक्त चाल वाटायचं. ऐकताना वाटायचं कोणीतरी देवदास प्रेयसीच्या विरहात गाणे म्हणत आहे त्यामुळे तेंव्हा पूर्ण गाणे ऐकत सुद्धा नव्हतो. आता मात्र अर्थ जाणवला.
‘मैना’ म्हणजे फक्त प्रेयसी नाही. ती आपली माती आहे. आपली भाषा आहे. आपली ओळख आहे.
सीमा बदलल्या, राज्यं बदलली, पण मनातली मैना तिथेच राहिली.
त्या क्षणी जाणवलं आपण कितीही दूर गेलो तरी आपल्या मुळांचा सुगंध सोबत असतो. आणि भाषा ही फक्त संवादाचं साधन नाही, ती आपुलकीचा श्वास आहे.
कर्नाटकात बसूनही महाराष्ट्राचा स्पर्श जाणवला,
कारण सीमा नकाशावर असतात संस्कृती मनात असते.
तेंव्हा मी “माझी मैना गावाकडे राहिली” हे गाणं फक्त ऐकलं नाही तर ते अनुभवलो.

because people from Bihar and UP or any other states for that matter is contributing to generate tax revenue in Karnataka. They work in a particular state but to be eligible to get work, their home state has invested in them by providing education and environment for the upbringing of child.
What benefits Home state is going to have in investing in a child's development so that they can get high paying job and contribute to tax revenue, if you don't pass the revenue to them, Isn't that unfair to them?

I have two points to make on the criticism of movie Animal.
1. Had the protagonist done all what he did for his Father and family, for his love interest or partner no one would have had any issues.
The movie defies the rotten, overused template of bollywood were it places a the violence by the Man.
2. You wont see anyone criticizing Ranbir Kapoor for the film,it's directed only at Vanga.Had it being somebody else they would have cancelled the career of that person.
Since it's their own hyped blue eyed industry boy,they will not ask him to not to continue with Vanga for Animal Park.
The only problem is the Movie is of an outsider Director and earned loads of Money which poses the threat to the Hegemony of some Production Houses.

Criticism of movies like Animal, Dhurandhar, Arjun Reddy for the influence of Violence is fine for me.
But same people never called out movies like Darr for incidents where Boys bet or kill a girls for rejection, infact they still celebrate those movies. What if we say Silsila rital affairs.
Movie like Mohabbatein, Kal Ho Na Ho are never called out for the one sided love or influencing boys with the distractive infatuation for girls dipicted with style and blanded with flavor of divinity.
Everything is fine untill a gender is put on pedestel. Violence against Girls has been happening even before Vanga or Aditya Dhar was born. But their movies are targeted by a particular section of audiences who are fans or paid dalals of the Juhu Bandra cabal that runs YRF and Dharma Productions. They don't want to leave their templates and wanna pull down others who are producing something that's hit at Boxoffice.
