🚨🇨🇦 #BREAKING: CANADA’S ECONOMY JUST DELIVERED ANOTHER MASSIVE WARNING.
And the timing couldn’t be worse for the Bank of Canada.
Statistics Canada’s NEW GDP report:
📉 July GDP: 0.0%
📉 August GDP: 0.0%
🚨 September GDP: −0.1% (preliminary)
THREE MONTHS. VIRTUALLY NO GROWTH.
But here’s the number that should concern every Canadian.
August GDP was originally expected to grow 0.2%.
Actual growth? ZERO.
And the Bank of Canada just RAISED interest rates to 2.50%.
Now look at the economic contradictions.
🏭 Wholesale trade: −1.4%
🛢️ Oil and gas extraction: −1.2%
🚗 Motor vehicle manufacturing: −5.8%
📈 Retail trade: +1.2%
📉 Services sector: −0.1%
The Bank of Canada projected approximately 2% annualized GDP growth for Q3.
Today’s data suggest just 1.3%.
CANADA’S ECONOMY IS UNDERPERFORMING EVEN THE CENTRAL BANK’S OWN FORECAST.
Higher borrowing costs.
A fragile labour market.
Weak economic momentum.
And inflation risks that refuse to disappear.
This is the dilemma facing Canadian households and businesses.
The central bank is tightening monetary policy while economic activity is barely moving.
CANADA DOESN’T JUST HAVE AN INFLATION PROBLEM.
It has a serious economic growth problem.
And today’s GDP report makes that impossible to ignore.

In the real world, Canadians can’t afford anything. Food, fuel, rent, mortgages.
Mark Carney promised to make it better. Everything is worse.
Today, he and the Liberals are distracting Canadians again with yet another grand summit about Europe. Big talk. What’s the result?
Not one tariff reduced. Not one of the nine European holdout countries has ratified the trade agreement Canada already has with them. Barriers to Canadian beef and pork exports to Europe remain. And now the EU is threatening a carbon tariff on Canadian steel, aluminum, cement and other goods.
Worse, there was lots of talk at the summit about aligning Canada with the insane European taxes, debt, immigration and anti-oil and gas policies that have left parts of Europe bankrupt and burning.
Does any of this lower your mortgage payments, rent, grocery bills or gas prices, back here in the real world?
Of course not.
Time to get real. We have mouths to feed. Bills to pay. Crime to stop. Borders to secure. And money to save.

“Broader, deeper, closer” … nice-sounding words but nobody really knows what’s being discussed (or why, despite the lovey-dovey words, after ten years CETA still isn’t fully implemented).
The EU and Canada are set to seal a broader, deeper alliance at a summit in Montréal.
The diplomatic push is seen as a rebuke to Donald Trump's "America First" agenda.

Adam Carolla says there’s a whole group in Hollywood that agrees with him but is too scared to say it out loud.
He splits the industry into 3 types:
1. The real leftists
2. The “preening liars” who are signaling all day long
3. The Marranos, the quiet ones who keep what they ves
He says it’s mostly crew guys, especially camera operators, who come up to him on set and whisper “I agree with you, just don’t out me.”
The Marranos were Jews in Spain who were forced to convert and kept their real faith in secret. It’s a heavy comparison. Still, it’s interesting that the people who build the sets feel safer whispering than speaking.
That’s what cancel culture produces. It doesn’t change anyone’s mind, it just makes people quiet. When one wrong opinion can cost you your career, people learn to perform the approved views in public and keep their real ones private. Woke culture promised more inclusion, but in practice it has left whole groups of people afraid to speak. A healthy culture can handle disagreement out in the open, and this one has made disagreement something you whisper on set.

Halloween is tomorrow in America, and I have a confession from Japan. 🦇
I never went trick or treating as a kid. Not once.
Porch lights, strangers with bowls of candy, every kid welcome.
We call that omotenashi. Yours just comes with chocolate. 🍬
I'm well past 50, but I still me.
A witch? A black cat? Maybe a full size candy bar. 🧙♀️🐈⬛
Happy Halloween from Japan. Leave a light on for me. 🕸️🕯️

How does this make sense?
Went to Michael's to pick up a can of metallic spray paint for my daughter's Halloween costume, and had to get someone to unlock the display case.
Then went to the completely unmanned self-serve checkout.

New definition of sovereignty just dropped from the PMO:
"A more dangerous and divided world has fundamentally changed the requirements of sovereignty. It is no longer enough for nations to feed, fuel, and defend ourselves.
