The most famous person I've ever spoken to? I sat next to Richard Feynman on a plane once, and we chatted. In fact, more than once. And I had dinner with him several thousand times. And I spent a few months inside his wife's womb.
Who’s the most famous person you’ve ever spoken to?
Not “seen from far away” — actually talked to, even for a minute.
A quick hello, a handshake, a normal conversation… and you still remember it.
Who was it?

Binance's initial investigation suggests that the security incident may involve a compromised DevOps engineer’s laptop, which allowed an attacker to gain access to a service container and submit unauthorized withdrawal transactions. We have found no evidence of any wallet private a detailed technical post-mortem once the investigation is complete and the facts are fully verified.
The estimated total impact sits at around $6.3B. We have worked with blockchain partners to freeze affected assets, with ~$3 billion frozen on-chain so far.
Binance will cover all losses from the SAFU fund and the company’s funds. User funds are safe. We will also publish an updated Proof of Reserves once the remediation is complete.
As an immediate precaution, Binance has:
- temporarily suspended deposits and withdrawals while security checks are completed;
- revoked the affected address authorisation;
- engaged law enforcement and blockchain intelligence partners to trace and recover funds.
Our teams are working around the clock to resolve this issue safely and thoroughly. We are working closely with our law enforcement partners to confirm the identity of these criminals and bring them to justice.
Please rely only on official Binance channels for updates. Please feel free to contact Binance Customer Support if you have any further questions.

Q: How does the right expect us to start families young when the average price of a home in America costs more than $415,000, which feels out of reach for us?
JD Vance: I want to point out that I think I've been asked 4 or maybe 5 questions and I've only been asked 1 question by Jesse Watters.

i've generally opposed the war, with an open mind, but if chris murphy says it will destroy the rule of law, then i guess i support it now
Trump is reportedly planning to restart war with Iran after the election.
Some of us have been briefed on the war plan. And while I cannot disclose any details, I can say this: the plan is insane. It will not achieve objectives and will set off a new cycle of escalation.

It's Thursday, and that means another new episode of @MTSPodcastOnX is now available for your viewing and listening pleasure!
We've got thrills, chills, and midweek mayhem!
(I'm only half-kidding.)
This week, we continue our thematic search for truth behind the nested masks of lies in our social imaginary; from actresses changing their faces to narrative reconstructions and microexpressions, why is it that we can all look at the people offering the same information and come away with totally different understandings of what it means?
We also dip our toes into the weird, talking about spiritual parasites, historical accounts of levitation and bilocation, preternatural intuition, and the fact that if you pay too much attention to the things that lurk in the shadows of reality, they have a tendency to start paying more attention to you -- which also describes the egregores that power our online algorithms as they feed us more of what they have observed us interacting with.
We finish up with a return look at You Can See Everything (but with spoilers about the second half this time) and examine the way art can reveal deeper meaning in a way nonfiction can't.
All of our various ways of pretending eventually rack up a bill that comes due. What happens when the stories we wear as disguises become threadbare, and reality shows through?

i get we're all really touchy about government fearmongering but i take this one pretty seriously, for reasons that have nothing to do with the government

I am genuinely shocked by how Little general public understands geo politics and military. First blowing an enemy combatant in peace time isn’t smart, second such close proximity all you can shoot is small arms not even a deck gun. And no small arms will sink a naval ship.

Honestly have no clue what this means.
Faith can be embodied in all cultures, because it does not identify itself with any of them in a specific one. It dwells within them, shaping them from within according to the “form” of Jesus Christ; that is, through charity, service and the filial recognition of God’s fatherhood. In this way, the Church draws from the various cultures all that is good, beautiful and true, in order to embody and transmit the message of the Gospel. #GeneralAudience

This is crazy. It's like a Batman villain only mundane.
The Pentagon is treating a rash of freezer malfunctions that affected refrigeration and freezer units at commissaries at several U.S. military bases in August as a suspected cyberattack, according to four officials familiar with the matter who spoke to Reuters. The Pentagon said “working in close coordination with interagency and law enforcement partners” in the ongoing investigation.
At least six on base commissaries were affected in late August, per Reuters’ review of base social media posts. In at least one case, the cooling units’ temperatures were raised overnight, resulting in spoiled food. Fort Huachuca, Arizona, posted that its freezer “went into defrost mode where it heated up all the food.”
One official said investigators have been in touch with French counterparts about a similar attack that hit more than 350 French supermarkets earlier this month.
