I missed my reading goal by a lot last year, but this year I’m going to hit it. The goal isn’t that crazy: 2 books per month. As part of accountability for the goal I will start this thread to post my review of every book I read.

One thing that sucks about using Compliance tools to help with SoC II automation they just assume you are on AWS. If you are on Cloudflare or another Neo Cloud turns into screenshot hell.

Society with unlimited tokens
Anthropic rewrote its Messages API in Rust. Zero Rust devs on the team.
Claude wrote the code. Humans wrote the plan and checked old vs new matched on real traffic. CPU dropped 40-50%.
Pretty sure "never do the big rewrite" is dead advice.

99 out of 100 things Jowanza writes now go through Willow.
@Jowanza is building a risk platform for industrial companies.
We sat with him to chat about how he uses Willow to keep up with everything. He told us typing had always slowed him down, first as a VP of Engineering at founder of Parakeet.
Today, he uses Willow for Slack messages, prompts, long updates and repetitive work he would rather not type by hand. Listen to his story.

Why did @IFTTT go to usage-based pricing for API connectors that have been flat for over a decade? I understand AI costs more, but come on. Been a customer for a long time, but I think this is it.

With a good cloud coding setup, your local machine feels like the Stone Age of coding. @ScottWu46 and the folks at @cognition were on this before everyone else. They were 100% correct on this.

Nightmare fuel
Foursquare was acquired last month. The outcome was disappointing. It's taken me a while to write this, but I think I'm finally done grieving it. Here are some thoughts on our final years, an effort to honor the team who helped build & maintain FSQ's legacy, and my attempt to finateendrama.substack.com/p/some-final-w…
