The only way we are going to tackle the global challenges of today is through partnerships.
We must draw on the strengths that everyone has to offer.
That is how we build a better future.

Keir leaves an incredible legacy. Taking Labour into government by a landslide just 5 years after our worst ever election result. He leaves Parliament now with his head held high and the country in a better state than he found it. Thank you Keir and good luck for what comes next.

I will always be proud to have played a part in Keir Starmer’s journey to Number Ten.
In Government, it’s been a great honour to serve as International Development Minister, and in Keir Starmer’s Cabinet. I’m disappointed to be leaving but wish the Prime Minister and his new team every success.
Cutting the aid budget has been challenging and has required much soul searching, but I passionately believe thanks to the work we’ve done, we’re spending the money better than ever before. We have a modern strategy and approach, working in partnership with developing countries rather than in a paternalistic way, and keeping strong commitments on global health and humanitarian aid.
Thank you to all the brilliant people I’ve worked with in the UK and overseas. Thanks to them and to Keir Starmer the U.K. is once again a force for good internationally.

Sudan's war is not sustained by ideology alone. It is financed through illicit gold, shadow financial networks and conflict profiteering.
Today's sanctions target those suspected of bankrolling the violence, wherever they operate.

Wrong. None of our aid goes to the Govt of Pakistan and our aid is half what it was in your last year in office.
In 2017, when you did my job, and Ahmed was in court fighting steps to deprive him of his UK citizenship, you gave Pakistan £402m, more than any country in the world.

The fact Labour have approved £153million aid for Pakistan when they are refusing to take back Shabir Ahmed tells you all you need to know.
No surprise that Labour slipped this out on the last day of this session of Parliament – so nobody can hold them to account.
The Labour Government is failing to keep the British public safe.
It is outrageous that they are handing taxpayers' money over to a foreign government which blocks us deporting dangerous and violent criminals to them.

1/2 The UK has halved what we spend in Pakistan since the General Election, with nothing going to the Government of Pakistan.
We use aid to help those in extreme need, prevent conflict and in the long-term interests of the UK.

Today we publish our plans to spend the aid budget, prioritising countries facing conflict and crisis, deliver impact where need is greatest, and shift from a donor to an investor.
This is truly a modern approach, putting partnerships first.

(1/4) Masaka, Uganda, is known mostly for its coffee beans, which have a curiously caramel-chocolate flavour.
Soon it will be known for something different: it is here where the UK’s bid to be first to produce a new Ebola vaccine will be won or lost

Great minds from the UK and across Africa are battling to end malaria. New vaccines, treatments and better bed nets already save lives. They are looking for the next breakthroughs.
The UK backs partners like @MedsforMalaria and @invectorcontrol to make ending malaria possible.

I met Rt Hon Baroness Chapman, the United Kingdom’s Minister of State for International Development and Africa, today at State House Entebbe. We discussed investment and ways to strengthen the partnership between Uganda and the United Kingdom. I also called upon British and ake a keen interest in investing in Africa, as the continent has enormous potential for economic growth, trade, and prosperity. I welcome her.

The UK commitment to supporting Africa’s response to the ongoing Bundibugyo Virus Disease is highly appreciated, and the recent visit of Baroness Chapman (@JennyChapman) to the Continental Incident Management Support Team (IMST) headquarters in Kampala is a powerful testament to o health security.
Accompanied by @LisaJChesney, the visit reflected continued UK support for Africa’s health security agenda, including through the UK Health Security Agency. It also reinforced the need for coordinated action, science-based decision-making, and sustained investment in outbreak preparedness and response across affected and high-risk countries. @FCDOGovUK @UKHSA

Groundbreaking: Africa’s first privately-financed power transmission project.
Backed by UK investment, this substation will build on Uganda’s existing 90% renewable energy, and connect 400,000 homes, schools and businesses in Mbarara and Western Uganda.

The Lebanese Red Cross are on the frontline, delivering in the most difficult conditions.
It was a privilege to hand over UK-funded ambulances to @RedCrossLebanon, delivered with @BritishRedCross. Their bravery is humbling and I pay tribute to staff who have lost their lives.

I’ve been in Lebanon for the last two days, showing the UK’s support to this country and its people.
These comments are outrageous and despicable.
These comments are outrageous and despicable.
Calling for "all of Lebanon to burn" is a horrendous and abhorrent statement from an Israeli Minister who has rightly been sanctioned by the UK Government.
We call on both Israel and Hizballah to comply with the agreed ceasefire, and ensure that all civilians are protected.
