I watch a lot of HS and Travel Baseball and hereβs what gets evaluated that most players/coaches/understand:
1. Catch Play - how do you treat βgetting looseβ before a game? Is there meaning to it or are you just throwing to throwβ¦.
2. Ground Balls between innings - 7-3-21
7 inn, 3 GBs/inn, 21 reps/game. How do you treat those? How are your throws?
3. On Deck Reps - What are you doing to prepare for your AB? You have three responsibilities. 1. Time the Pitcher, 2. Communicate w/base runners 3. Relay location to hitter. Youβre not there to βget looseβ
4. Response to Failure - how do you respond to a Strikeout, an error, a bad call, giving up a bomb?
5. Communication - Are you talking between pitches, directing cutoffs, helping teammates w/ pitcher tendencies, etc.
6. Competitiveness In Non Game Situations sprinting on and off the field, backing up bases, prep steps, moving with hitters tendencies, does every pitch matter?
These are the aspects of the game that are often taken for granted but make a huge difference for your evaluation.

2027 OF James Humrich scorches this into deep RCF for a leadoff 3B.
Well-balanced stroke with quality barrel control through zone. Physical 6-foot-1, 182-pound frame that projects.

Parents & Players can pay for lessons, camps, travel teams, tournaments and showcases.
They cannot pay for:
Work ethic
Coachability
Competitiveness
Talent
Desire
Eventually, the player has to own it.

You donβt have a recruiting problem.
You have an exposure problem, a development problem, or an expectations problem.
Figure out which one it is.
Then attack it.

DEMAND.
Do you understand what college baseball will demand of you?
12β15 hours of class per week. Practice. Lifts. Individual work. Study hall. Travel. Recovery.
Youβll have personal timeβbut far less than you have now.
Everyone wants the opportunity, but are you ready for the lifestyle?

And amateur players these days donβt take catch play as serious as they should. Too many kids throwing to get loose vs throwing to increase arm strength.
Catch play tells you a lot about a player!
Catch play tells you a lot about a player!
How does long toss correlate to mound velocity? And how to judge throwing intensity by distance? Check out this handy chart - a good cheatsheet for most pitchers. @jaegersports

We clearly have very different definitions of "GENIUS." And before you say itβyes, I know, I just donβt understand, but i do understand the idea of baseball is to NOT swing and miss
It is @Teacherman1986 most genius drill - when you understand it.
20 years into HLP to get there.

Saw this in real time at @PowerBSB and after the event when @EliteSquad used it. UNBELIEVABLE! A must get for travel orgs around the country!
This is very well thought out and easy to use!
This is very well thought out and easy to use!
Iβm excited to officially launch @HandledReports.
I have devoted much of my
life to how travel clubs are operated.
Tryout day, staffs work the field all day, grading every kid, writing evaluations, recording metrics. Then the season starts, and coaches keep evaluating β every practice, every game. By the end of the year staffs have more insight into these kids than anyone. And almost none of it ever reaches a family.
Not because orgs and coaches donβt care. There was no good way to get it the info out of their heads and onto something a parent could read.
That gap followed me for years. So I built Handled.
1. Run your tryout from your phone β live evals, keep/cut/bubble, run the combine and store the data, live leaderboards, teams built and emails with evals and team placement sent by end of day.
2. During the season, coaches text, voice-memo, record, or evaluate what they see, and it becomes a real report β grade, strengths, what to work on. Have access to data? Even better, our reports work with all of it.
End of season, after a practice, after a lesson: families receive a report on where their kid started and where theyβre headed, professionally crafted with your logos and custom links.
Tryouts to in-season to end of season, feedback coaches already have but the player and families deserve.

Donβt have any traction on the recruiting trail?
Start asking:
Am I good enough right now?
Do coaches know who I am?
Have they seen me compete?
Do my grades fit their school?
Am I contacting the right programs?
The answer to the last question is almost always βNoβ

π§΅95% of players and families donβt know how coaches evaluate, recruit, or build their rosters.
They think βIβm good enough to play there, itβs D2ββ¦.but the roster is made up of transfers and juco players because that coach wants players with experience
Do the research!

π§΅Most players donβt have a recruiting problem.
They have an EXPECTATIONS problem.
Your expectations donβt determine your level.
The market does.

Recruiting truth:
Coaches canβt recruit what they donβt know exists.
Talent matters.
But so do updated video, accurate information, consistent communication, and playing where coaches can evaluate you.
Being good is only part of the process.
Being findable matters too.

CULTURE doesnβt happen by accident.
Leaders must:
SET the standard.
ENABLE people to reach it.
HOLD everyone accountable to it.
What leaders tolerate becomes the culture.
Coaches recruit players who ELEVATE the standard, HOLD others accountable and make the culture strongerβwhat kind of culture player are you?
