'At Jaffna Customs office, books dealing with political subjects get singled out for scrutiny. The presence of words such as “war,” “military,” “gun,” “Tigers,” and “mass grave” is enough to detain a book.'

Everyone would have started the article/post with 'A Muslim immigrant from Pakistan.....'

Now 70 years old, Mr Hasan has just retired after 35 years of service at Newcastle upon Tyne, but just after receiving his Lifetime Achievement Award, he had an extra special surprise: a cast of patients who would not be alive without him. ❤️

OPEN LETTER: Sally Rooney is a writer, not a terrorist. Her books must be available to the public. Their withdrawal from sale, on the basis of ill-conceived and draconian anti terror legislation, is an affront to basic principles of free speech and expression so long taken for . We categorically reject censorship - whether direct or indirect - and urge the government to change course, amending the legislation which has led us to this point of repressive absurdity.

For those who were involved in the campaign to free Julian Assange, I am sorry to share sad news from comrades in Italy.
Patrick Boylan - a proficient linguist & committed activist from Italy - has sadly passed away. My condolences to his loved ones.

Details for commemoration sharbelow
